‘Carrie’ Has Been Shifted All The Way To October
MGM and Sony have used their telekinetic energy to move Carrie all the way until October. This means we have to sift through months more of their boring Facebook viral campaign before a real trailer and poster hit. Sigh.
The Kimberly Peirce-directed adaptation has shifted out of March settling in on a new October 18, 2013 date. Check out Sony’s full 2013 slate as previewed here on Bloody.
The pic is a reimagining of the classic horror tale “About Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.”
Brian De Palma’s 1976 film version of Carrie earned Oscar nominations for stars Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie.

I really hope you’re right, I’m thinking due to PA4′s low box office and how poorly it was received that the next one will not fare so well. If CARRIE is advertised well it has potential to draw in a wide range of people, the older more seasoned crowd (us
) and the high school crowd. I would kind of love to see it do well. Who would have thought I would be in a place wishing for remake success!

Doesn’t make sense. Carrie is about the prom. How about releasing it close to prom season.
That could be why they moved it. With all the crap going on in this country with mentally disturbed people shooting up schools and such, releasing this around prom time might give one of them an idea to copy it and try to reproduce the same action.
Another reason why they moved it could be the prescreeners felt it didn’t hit the mark and so they believe they can reshoot/fix/whatever it is that needs to make this a better movie. Who knows?
I’m not that mad about the shift. I was hoping to see it sooner than later, but the 18th is closer to Halloween, AND when Halloween finally rolls around, Carrie will still be in theaters. A Carrie remake will be the PERFECT spooky and bloody Halloween season film, and the new release date might help the box office numbers.

Yeah, because Silent Hill: Revelation was quite possibly the worst movie I’ve seen in theatrically in almost 5 years.

Yikes! I forgot about Revelation, and that film was truly meant for Halloween season. Still, hoping Carrie does better, but man how could I forgot about Revelation.
