‘Carrie’ Has Been Shifted All The Way To October

MGM and Sony have used their telekinetic energy to move Carrie all the way until October. This means we have to sift through months more of their boring Facebook viral campaign before a real trailer and poster hit. Sigh.

The Kimberly Peirce-directed adaptation has shifted out of March settling in on a new October 18, 2013 date. Check out Sony’s full 2013 slate as previewed here on Bloody.

The pic is a reimagining of the classic horror tale “About Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.

Brian De Palma’s 1976 film version of Carrie earned Oscar nominations for stars Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie.

This is good news! This shows that they have a lot of confidence in the movie.

  • K-Dogg

    can’t be Oct. 28th, that’s a Monday….

    • K-Dogg

Ahhh, they fixed it….18th is a Friday, that’s more like it.

  • edheadboy0503

How about they stop fucking with shit and leave the Release Date Alone. Ain’t NOBODY got time for that! I can ONLY PRAY the POWERS that BE sense how Crummy of a Decision they are Making/MADE 🙁

  • Aaron Emery

That’s disappointing! I would hate to see it flop due to PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 12(13?)

    • Zombie-Killa

Think about it like this Aaron, IF Carrie is successful at the box office, it could potentially crush Paranormal Activity 5 (there’s going to be a fifth film, right?), driving the nail into the coffin for that shitty franchise once and for all (:.

      • Aaron Emery

I really hope you’re right, I’m thinking due to PA4’s low box office and how poorly it was received that the next one will not fare so well. If CARRIE is advertised well it has potential to draw in a wide range of people, the older more seasoned crowd (us 🙂 ) and the high school crowd. I would kind of love to see it do well. Who would have thought I would be in a place wishing for remake success!

  • Carrie-white-eats-shit

Are you F***king kidding me?! I have been anticipating this movie for months, just like everyone else here. Let’s just hope this unsuspected “Shift” benefits the film…Man I was so stoked! AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THIS!!

  • JoeR

Doesn’t make sense. Carrie is about the prom. How about releasing it close to prom season.

    • Droolbear

That could be why they moved it. With all the crap going on in this country with mentally disturbed people shooting up schools and such, releasing this around prom time might give one of them an idea to copy it and try to reproduce the same action.

Another reason why they moved it could be the prescreeners felt it didn’t hit the mark and so they believe they can reshoot/fix/whatever it is that needs to make this a better movie. Who knows?

  • Zombie-Killa

I’m not that mad about the shift. I was hoping to see it sooner than later, but the 18th is closer to Halloween, AND when Halloween finally rolls around, Carrie will still be in theaters. A Carrie remake will be the PERFECT spooky and bloody Halloween season film, and the new release date might help the box office numbers.

Zombie-Killa, i hope you are right! don’t forget though, SILENT HILL REVELATION was released Oct.26th and it flopped. just sayin’.

      • chainsawqueer

Yeah, because Silent Hill: Revelation was quite possibly the worst movie I’ve seen in theatrically in almost 5 years.

        • djblack1313

chainsawqueer, that’s not the point. PA4 was good? no.

          • Se_7_eN

Dj…. *Sigh* No, PA4 was not good.

Oh! Btw, saw John Dies at the End. I liked it! Except I got kinda bored about 3/4 of the way through. The ending was awesome though!

      • Zombie-Killa

Yikes! I forgot about Revelation, and that film was truly meant for Halloween season. Still, hoping Carrie does better, but man how could I forgot about Revelation.

  • staindFAN

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Im so bummed! No joke, I was just thinking to myself today, “hey, Carrie opens in about 2 1/2 months. Shouldn’t there be a full trailer by now?” Now I know why there isn’t one yet. I have been waiting for this for so long, Im bummed. I just hope this is for the better of the film. Period.

    • Aaron Emery

      Period. Haha

      • djblack1313

Aaron, LOL!! staindFAN, i know you probably weren’t making an intentional joke but LOL! 🙂

  • WalkWithMeInDarkness

Total Bullshit! I’ve been saying to my family “Carrie’s almost here, bring on March 15!” and now they move it to October? They better not fuck with the release dates for Evil Dead or The Conjuring(AGAIN!) or Insidious 2.

  • ThunderDragoon

Really? What the fuck for? Fuck this pisses me off.

  • Murdock408

Arrrrrrrgh! I was really looking forward to seeing it soon! Seeing it around Halloween will be cool but I thought releasing it closer to actual prom dates would be cooler.

  • xAshleyMariex

God dammit!!!!! Do we really have to wait that long :/

  • egaltt23

Boo, those whores! They can at least give us a damn trailer…

  • ChasingTheGhost

Horrible, horrible idea. Needed to be closer to prom, which is why March is perfect. I really hope this is worth the wait.
