1-Army-of-darkness-klatu

The limited edition shirt of the day over at Tee Fury screams “Klaatu barada nikto!

“MJ” created the shirt design, TrulyEpic, that gives homage to Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead franchise by including Ash, Evil Ash, a Deadite, and the Book of the Dead. It’s only $10, too.

Says the Tennessee artist: “This design is about THE GREATEST zombie slayer of all time, as well as the movies he was in. He’s not the good guy, he’s not the bad guy…he’s just the guy with the gun and in the end, that’s all that matters.

so…..could anybody make something based on licensed characters and sell it for their own profit? Did Tee Fury have a deal with Raimi and co.? i’m just curious about the legal issues.

I’m guessing because they never actually use the trademarked words ‘Evil Dead’, ‘Army of Darkness’, ‘Ash’ etc, which would be likely be licensed, they can do what they like. Most of Teefury’s shirts are like that – you have to be a fan of the subject to get the shirt, because they never explicitly use titles or direct references.

What I always wonder about is those albums like ‘An Unofficial String Tribute to Tool’ or the like, I wonder if the bands get any royalties or does just saying its’ ‘Unoffical’ make it legal?

I would assume that it’s a total rip… and what are they going to do with all the shirts that don’t sell on this ONE day? – They’ll burn them for sure. Yep, no profit to be made there, too much respect for the money… I mean property.

Let’s not forget the fact that he’s a freaking DEMON slayer. This isn’t a zombie franchise, Ash has been fighting DEMONS since day dot. FTW. I’ve been on BD since 2003 and this bulljizz made me re-activate my account.
