Hitting iTunes today is The Legend of Beaver Dam, a short with a surprisingly splattery trailer that has me itching to see the whole thing. That pic above might give you a Sandlot vibe, but this beast seems a little more hardcore than that.
“The genre-bending short film tells the story of Danny Zigwitz, a nerdy youngster who needs to save his fellow campers from a bloody massacre when a campfire song awakens an evil monster. The film has played over 75 film festivals worldwide, picking up numerous awards, including an honorable mention at Sundance and “Best Short Film” at Sitges, Fantastic Fest, and Screamfest.
‘The Legend of Beaver Dam’ is the brainchild of filmmaking team Jerome Sable and Eli Batalion, a writing-composing duo from Montreal, Quebec. Sable & Batalion are currently in post-production on their first feature-length film, Stage Fright, a horror musical about an orphaned teenager whose dream to become a theatre star turns into a terrifying nightmare when she auditions for the camp play. Black Swan meets Phantom of the Opera and Scream in this musical slasher, produced by Serendipity Point Films and starring Meat Loaf and Minnie Driver.”
