‘NeverDead’ Dev Teases An Announcement Of Something Horror Related Coming Next Month

Published

on

Rebellion Developments, the studio behind NeverDead and Sniper Elite V2, teased an announcement of their next project earlier today. It looks to be of the horror persuasion and its logo all but guarantees it has something to do with Sniper Elite. I’m guessing this is zombie DLC for Sniper Elite V2, or potentially even a standalone expansion à la Infamous 2’s Festival of Blood or Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare, but we won’t know for sure until they officially announce it next month (on Valentine’s Day, strangely enough). The ambiguous synopsis doesn’t shed much light either, “One man is utterly alone amidst the chaos of war. But there are worse things to fear than bombs and bullets here…”

Interestingly, the dev also wrote “PC fans will soon get the chance to discover for themselves just what is in store for those brave enough to venture into the ‘Totraum’.” This means that at least for now, this will be a PC exclusive. I’m getting strong zombie vibes from this tease, but we already have so many of those already, so hopefully they surprise us all by announcing a demon game, or something. Check out the teaser after the jump.

The QR code at the end of the teaser points to this site, where you can provide your email address in return for Priority One communiques.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

Published

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
