Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow” has cast its first two roles.

Says The Hollywood Reporter, “MadTV” and “Drumline” alum Orlando Jones and “Dexter’s” Katia Winter, pictured, have joined the cast of the network’s modern-day supernatural thriller based on the legend of Sleepy Hollow.

In the 20th Television drama, Jones will Play Lt. Frank Williams, the sternly professional detective transferred to Sleepy Hollow to investigate a double homicide. Winter, who is fresh off her breakout role on Showtime’s “Dexter,” will play the wife to Ichabod Crane and a nurse with the 37th Regiment in the Revolutionary War, says the site. This morning they updated with another piece of casting: “Shame” breakout Nicole Beharie has been tapped to play the female lead, Detective Abbie Archer, a smart and tough detective.

“Fringe’s” Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci will pen the pilot and executive produce, with Phil Iscove also on board to write and serve as a supervising producer. Heather Kadin will exec produce while Len Wiseman will helm the pilot.

In the script, Ichabod is described as a captain in the Revolutionary War who has been to hell and back. The former history professor finds himself catapulted to present day Sleepy Hollow, where he’s indicted for the murder of a police officer and forced to prove not only his innocence but make a wary detective believe he’s a traveler from the 18th century.
