Finally! A ‘Riddick’ Image That’s Not Brown!

While I enjoy Vin Diesel’s Facebook image updates for Riddick, they’ve been a bit monochromatic. Now he breaks up the brown look with a bit of blue in this new image from the David Twohy directed sequel due in theaters September 6 from Universal. Diesel writes, “It has been 9 years since the Chronicles of Riddick was released… all along I knew I would eventually have to return to that dark place, the mind of an Alpha Furyan…

Karl Urban, Nolan Funk, Jordi Molla, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Bokeem Woodbine, Dave Bautista, Conrad Pla, Raoul Trujillo, Nolan Funk and Keri Hilson fill the cast in which “Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick, a dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy. The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

Is this purposely riffing off Game of Thrones?

Personally I’m feeling a Conan riff here.

Well he did sit at the end of the “Chronicles” in the throne. I hope they explain how he does not command the necromongers. Still, I find the whole Riddick mythology fascinating – must be in the minority

I watched PITCH BLACK for the first time recently and really loved it, but I think for different reasons than what has been intended with the franchise. I think it worked as a nice little creature feature, scifi/horror. I still can’t bring myself to watch CHRONICLES because it looked dreadful even when it first came out, I think it looks SO different for PITCH BLACK that it really turns me off, kind of like a cheap scifi epic(?) impersonator! I’ll wait on this one until I hear some feedback I think.

Chronicles sucks. This movie will suck too. More PG-13 garbage. Vin Diesel can’t act and his one liner delivery is terrible. Pitch Black was a really cool movie and why and how it turned into this awful franchise boggles the mind.
