[WTF] Hotel Guests Bathed, Drank Out Of Water Contaminated With A Corpse

This was reported on CNN and various other news outlets last week, but I didn’t have enough time to get it posted. Thus, here’s your Monday morning WTF about a corpse being found in a L.A. hotel’s water tank. Disgusting.

CNN reports, “Tourists staying at a Los Angeles hotel bathed, brushed teeth and drank water from a tank in which a young woman’s body was likely decomposing for more than two weeks, police said.

Elisa Lam’s corpse was found in the Cecil Hotel’s rooftop water tank by a maintenance worker who was trying to figure out why the water pressure was low Tuesday. Lam’s parents reported her missing in early February. The last sighting of her was in the hotel on January 31, Los Angeles Police said. Detectives are now investigating the 21-year-old Canadian’s suspicious death, police Sgt. Rudy Lopez said.

People who stayed at the Cecil since Lam’s disappearance expressed shock about developments. Here’s the grossest: “The shower was awful,” Sabrina Baugh told CNN. “When you turned the tap on, the water was coming black first for two seconds and then it was going back to normal.

It was not clear whether the water presented any health risks to those who consumed it. Results on tests on the water done Wednesday by the Los Angeles Public Health Department were expected later in the day. The hotel management has not responded to CNN requests for comment.

Commence zombie-themed adaptation….NOW!

I saw this week and my stomach just turned…how bizarre and icky! I can’t imagine being one the guests who stayed there, showered, brushed their teeth, etc. I really feel for the woman’s family who had been looking for her. Sad story!

There’s your next Cabin Fever storyline.

I saw this last week and thought they found her in like a water fountain type display. This makes it way worse than that. That is awful. Seems strange someone could access the drinking water tank so.easily.

That’s nasty. I have one question, how did the lady get in the water tank in the first place?

Murderer wanted to hide the body and wash away evidence at the same time.

Thats the most insane story I ever heard of in my life. Like it makes you think what you are really drinking now. But as sad as it is it will make an awesome horror movie.

Yeah definate echoes of cabin fever, tragic but would make an awesome horror movie. Maybe not zombies but a tale of mass possession.

Thats sad, creepy, and makes my skin crawl. And let’s not put that in a movie any time soon, have some type of respect. Real life horror is way scarier than Hollywood horror.

@flesheater24, I was going to say ironically there already was a folm starring Jennifer Connoly called “Dark Water” where a dead body was found in a tank like this story. This is fucked up! I hope the cops with help catch the real killer/person responsible!

The water ran black for a couple of seconds, but then it was ok? I’d wait and shower when I got home!

Interesting fact, the to access the rooftop you need a special key, because trying to break the lock would set off an alarm. The Police found no evidence that the lock or door was tampered with. The Hotel staff is also really “hush-hush” regarding the investigation, and was pretty harsh with it’s guests(basically said, either sign a form that states they aren’t responsible for the guests’ safety if they get sick from the water, or they guests have to leave immediately, as in, pack you bags and get the fuck out!!!). No apologies, no nothing. I’m thinking, maybe, it might’ve been someone who worked at the hotel who did it. Someone with access to the rooftop(manager, janitor).
