Take A Shining To This New ‘Lords Of Salem’ Clip

If nothing else, I’m sure this movie will look fantastic since every piece of footage I’ve seen has been incredibly visually appealing. AICN has a new clip from Rob Zombie’s The Lords of Salem, which stars Sheri Moon Zombie, Bruce Davidson, Jeffrey Daniel Phillips, Ken Foree, Patricia Quinn, Dee Wallace, Maria Conchita Alonso, Judy Gleeson, Meg Foster and Griffin Boice. And this new glimpse is more than a little Kubrickian.

From the singular mind of horror maestro Rob Zombie comes a chilling plunge into a nightmare world where evil runs in the blood. The Lords of Salem tells the tale of Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie), a radio station DJ living in Salem, Massachusetts, who receives a strange wooden box containing a record, a “gift from the Lords.” Heidi listens, and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of the town’s violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the “Lords of Salem” returning for revenge on modern-day Salem?

Here’s Brad’s review out of TIFF, as well as Mike’s more positive take. The Lords Of Salem is in limited theaters (New York, Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, Philadelphia, DC, Miami, Dallas, Houston, Detroit) April 19 from Anchor Bay Films.

Nothing really happened in that clip but it sure was pretty! I’m not sure if the score in the trailer and clips is the same as what’s in the film, I really like it though. It has a kind of ominous eerie feel to it.

Seriously, I am a HUGE ROB ZOMBIE fan but this looks fantastic. The camerawork and the photography look incredibly and it is nice to finally see a horror movie that does not have that gritty look. Brings back memories from the Shinning and David Lynch. Why this does not have a release here in the uk? Not fair god dammit!

doomas10, i’m not sure what you mean by ” it is nice to finally see a horror movie that does not have that gritty look”. it seems so many (some would say TOO many!) horror movies have that non-gritty, Platinum Dunes-y type sheen. for example one of the bigger complaints regarding the upcoming EVIL DEAD (not from me since i am SO excited for this movie) is that it was too glossy/not gritty like the original.

you know i’m not attacking you, i’m just curious to see what you mean. 🙂

djblack you are an awesome, true horror fan so no problem! Apologies for my expressions. English is not my first language and when I get excited, I tend to forget what I actually want to say 😀 Gritty – like grain in the picture- see for example the Halloween films and found footage horror. There is strong emphasis in colours and antithesis with the moody black background. This one looks more…hypnotic if you get my drift. Like a terrible nightmare! I definitely agree with you that most of them do look glossy (particularly supernatural films or slasher flicks). It goes I guess two ways: either glossy either gritty but it seems to me that RZ has found a unique cinematographer to make his films different than others!

PS who complained about the ED remake? THAT Looks insane!

          thanx doomas10!! 🙂
your English is pretty perfect (better than mine and English is my native tongue! lol). now i understand what you mean. i agree 100%! people can bash Zombie all they want but they can’t say he’s not amazing at creating stunning visuals.

I really appreciate his effort into crafting something different like H2 even if the effort is not the best. At least he is trying and he is not pretending. Not bad for a guy who has only 4 films under his belt with pretty much all of them considered cult for different reasons!

i’m kind of perplexed as to why 2 of the 3 blips (i can’t really even call them clips since they are about 20 seconds each! LOL) they’ve released for this were pretty uninteresting/bland. the clip with Sheri’s character coughing up blood was VERY good though. on one hand i’m glad they aren’t (i assume) showing all the good parts in these clips but on the other hand overall the clips aren’t interesting or long enough (i don’t need a 3 minute clip but for fuck’s sake make it long enough to call it a scene!! LOL) to do what clips are supposed to do….entice one to see a movie. 🙂

that being said, i am looking forward to this movie.
