Cannibals On the Rise In ‘The Colony’ Trailer and Poster!

Although it has been acquired by Image International for here the States, EOne has slated The Colony for release in Canada on April 12. The sci-fi thriller about a group of underground survivors after the next Ice Age fending off an invasion of feral cannibals stars Laurence Fishburne, Kevin Zegers and Bill Paxton, which makes for a stellar cast. An international trailer has already been released, as well as the poster, both of which are made available below.

Set during the next ice-age, The Colony follows an outpost of colonists who struggle to survive below the world’s frozen surface. Short on supplies, and plagued by illness and internal conflict, the colonists suspect the worst when they mysteriously lose contact with their only other known settlement, Colony 5. When Colony 7′s leader Briggs (Laurence Fishburne) decides to lead an expedition to discover what happened, he is challenged by Mason (Bill Paxton), his former comrade-in-arms, who has his own ideas of what is best for the colonists. Briggs takes two volunteers on the mission, the young Graydon, and Sam (Kevin Zegers), a strong-willed mechanic who seizes the opportunity to confront the icy wasteland that orphaned him. When they reach their destination, the team discover a threat much worse than nature and must battle to save themselves and protect their fellow colonists in what might be humanity’s last stand.

Looks like your typical Alien format but set in the snow. Can’t remember the last time Laurence Fishburn did a decent horror/sci fi flick, but I like that the dude from the Cube is in it (although it looks like not for long).

It reminds me the thing, screamers and pandorum!? However, I do like post-apocalyptic thrillers and Lawrence Fishburne is awesome. Seems solid

this looks ok. not great or not trying to reinvent the wheel. if it can pull off good atmosphere & suspense/tension then it might be worth watching (on DVD).

I’ll be fine without this one. Post apocalyptic films are being worn out. Oblivion looks good though. Hollywood puts out too many dumb flicks these days.

Really? You have more faith in a big budget Post-apocalyptic film starring Mr. Scientology than you do an actual original premise with a decent cast? Mind boggling.

Ahhh, it’s Bill Paxton guys.. Give it a chance. Worse comes to worse and you hate it, then just toss Frailty in while drinking a pint of your own forget last night liqour.

At least the premise reads as being somewhat original, with nary a vampire, zombie, or variation of the two in place. I am all for more cannibal films, as you can do more with a cannibal than you can with a zombie. Hope this movie ends up better than the synopsis makes it sound, however.
