New Trailer For ‘The Conjuring’ Packs In The Scares!!!

Every time I see something new from James Wan’s The Conjuring I’m inclined to believe that, aside from the fact that it’s probably really good, it looks like a leap forward for the director himself. It just looks so much more assured than his already impressive existing body of work. I particularly like the leap from on top of the armoir, and any use of “Hurdy Gurdy Man” puts me in the bag a little bit.

In theaters July 19, “Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, The Conjuring tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

It was recently revealed that the filmmakers were aiming for a PG-13 but couldn’t get it because of the intensity of the scares. Not the gore, just the creepiness. So the film will remain at its’ current R rating. Can’t wait. The film stars “Bates Motel’s” Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Joey King, Shanley Caswell, Haley McFarland, Mackenzie Foy, Kyla Deaver, and Sterling Jerins.

Head inside for the trailer! I’ve also added some stills of the more intense moments!

I liked the teaser better, this was just okay. I’m hoping the movie isn’t all jump scare, it DOES look quite atmospheric though!

    • djblack1313

Aaron, i agree word for word!

      • Aaron Emery

The fact that it says blah blah “the truth” is what has me kind of worried. I would rather see a fictional account of the events than something without a real ending. It could still be good and I trust Wan but it was an instant reminder of ‘An American Haunting’ and the like…

        • djblack1313

Aaron we must be twins! lol. i literally was just saying the same thing!! i hate when movies have that “based on a true story” BS.

          • Aaron Emery

It rarely works and when it does it is heavily fictionalized. TWINSIES! haha

          • Zombie-Killa

Whoa! You mean triplets, right djblack! LOL!

And yeah, I agree. The true story bullshit is annoying most of the time.

  • Scream1210

This trailer is great! It looks like an absolutely terrifying movie! Especially like the bit at the end with the person under the sheet. Im excited for this!

  • K-Dogg

Agreed on the fact that the teaser was MUCH better than this new trailer, now it looks too Mama-ish, now a little nervous about this one.

  • Baphomitt

    This looks dumb.

  • djblack1313

Aaron i agree w/ you. the teaser was MUCH more effective. this looks good but i’m less excited for it after watching this new trailer. the cast is superb so this is a must see!

    • Mark

djblack….Just shut up please. You post more than anybody on this site and its annoying. Stop CAPITALIZING words for emphasis you IDIOT. Please don’t respond to this either. I can’t handle seeing another post from you.

      • doomas10

I do not think that anyone else has a problem with postings from djblack in this website other than you. You can post as much as you want to bro. Take it slow

        • Aaron Emery

doomas10, agreed. You DON’T have to READ his posts if you DON’T WANT to.

          • BelaManiac

Whoa, no shit! Calm down. No one cares how much he posts. Don’t read the comment section if you hate it.

  • Kwonkicker

Definitely seems like a creepy ride.

  • BabyJaneHudson

Agree with the majority here – I loved the slow creepiness of the teaser, this has way more jump scares and ghouls than I hoped for.

    • djblack1313

BabyJane, exactly! the leg pulling of the boy in bed reminded me (not in a good way) of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY.

      • BabyJaneHudson

Definitely – the only thing that made me glad with that scene was that they didn’t pull him right of the bed…

  • doomas10

I am at the lab supposedly working and everyone heard me screaming like a kid with my headphones on!!! *embarassing moment number 234* I am going to watch this midnight premiere. In James Wan we trust! And Vera… my.. 😀

  • egaltt23

    Patrick Wilson is fucking gorgeous.

    • BelaManiac

      Oh, definitely

  • yellowsicktoad

I wasn’t hooked on Insidious that much. This looks like it was made for me though.

  • scorpiokorea

its looks like american haunting, a half a cup of insidious, a dash of exorcist, another dash sinister and a pinch of a haunting in connecticut mix it all together and get this movie.

  • grayghost

I don’t have a positive or negative thing to say about this trailer. I’m sick of birds in movies why do ghosts and aliens hate birds so much? They are always making them fly into windows and swarm around houses and stuff. Leave the bids alone dark underworld they never did anything to you.

    • WalkWithMeInDarkness

HA, yeah, birds are so often used as harbingers of doom. In Dark Skies, they went all suicidal and shit.

  • Golic

    wow. been there, done that.

  • dr.lamb

The jumping ghost at 1:33 is hilarious.

  • scarletsimple

I loved the teaser so much! It gave me the idea that this movie was going to be slow and unsettlingly creepy. The trailer is okay, but not as good and I fear that as always we give away too much in the previews.

Vera Farmiga looks AMAZING as Lorraine Warren, and Patrick Wilson is always good. Someone else said In Wan we trust (lol) and I do!

I want this to be so good! It’s my kind of movie!

  • ThunderDragoon

This movie is going to be deliciously creepy and I can’t wait.

  • amberchanelg

Can’t wait to see this! Vera Farmiga is great, especially in Bates Motel!

  • WalkWithMeInDarkness

I’m pleased with the trailer. I trust Wan and i hope this will be one of the best horror movies of the year. Vera Farmiga has never been bad in any film I’ve seen her on and I, too, love her on Bates motel.

  • WalkWithMeInDarkness

    IN, not on, sorry.

  • Vlad-Dracula

looks very creepy, this trailer is a very good companion to the first teaser in my opinion.
also, haha, have you guys looked up on Joey King?

China girl/Girl in wheel chair – Oz the Great
Young Bane/Thalia – The Dark Knight Rises
Channing Tatums Daughter – White House Down
Briana – Quarantine (eh, [rec] for the win, but still)

this girl is 14 and her resume is fuggin impressive as all hell.
seriously astounds me, but i digress.
James Wan is a fantastic director and i have hardcore faith in this man, and just from the reports that the MPAA had to give this film an R just out of sheer terror has me intrigued.
i have high hopes for this.

  • DethHand

Looks pretty good but I’m not seeing anything new. But I’ll still check it out. I love Vera Farmiga!

  • horrorking95

I don’t think I’m going to watch this just yet. The teaser whet my appetite enough and I’m pretty sure I’m going to be seeing this no matter what and I want the scares to be as surprising as possible. The Sinister trailer crammed most of the good scares in the trailer, so the surprise element was lacking (but it was OK considering that Sinister didn’t entirely rely on jump scares and I loved it anyway.) James Wan is incredibly good a jump scares (see Insidious) so I don’t want anything to be spoiled!

  • Zombie-Killa

Creepy trailer, and the poster is BRILLIANT! Still buzzing off of the “too scary” for PG-13 stuff. Can’t wait to see this!

  • Jer

I think we’ve all seen the “true story” claim enough times to be wary of its veracity. When it comes to Ed and Lorraine Warren’s accounts we should be especially skeptical. They’re the ones who claimed that The Amityville house was used to enslave and torture natives (a claim that made it into the 2005 film) which has been proven factually untrue.

But whatever, as long as the movie does its job and scares the shit out of us I’m all for it.

  • BelaManiac

Okay, I have to agree with most of you here. The teaser was just way more effective. I was just telling someone about how creepy it was. So simple that it creeped me out. This, not so much!

  • Absinthespade

The scares are to slow that I could see them from a mile away. However, this does look like a fun throwback to the numerous 70s b-horror flicks so I am interested.
