New Trailer For ‘Byzantium’, Could This Be The Best Vampire Movie Of The Year?

Arriving on VOD and in limited theaters June 28 is Neil Jordan’s Byzantium, which was acquired by IFC Films out of the Toronto International Film Festival. I have loved everything I’ve seen from this, it feels like we’re finally getting an original vampire story. It’s a total breath of fresh air and this new trailer is no exception. I can’t wait to see this.

Starring Gemma Arterton, Saoirse Ronan, Caleb Landry Jones, Danny Mays, Bradley James, Sam Riley, Jonny Lee Miller and Tom Hollander, the pic is about a pair of women who claim to be vampire siblings.

On the run for murder, two young “sisters” arrive penniless at an English seaside town. Clara is a fiercely modern woman who has her eyes on the future and no time for the past. Teenager Eleanor is shy and innocent. Yet they both hide the same secrets: they are really mother and daughter, and they are both … vampires!

i’m excited for this movie but i won’t watch any more trailers or clips for it. i learned the hard way with EVIL DEAD not to do that anymore.

Wonderful trailer, and Saoirse Ronan could use a good film after The Host (easily one of the worst movies I’ve seen this year).

And I agree about the Evil Dead trailers djblack. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED the Evil Dead 2013. But they gave away SO much, and when you finally watched the movie, there was no real shock factor or surprises.

Zombie-Killa, lol. i can’t lie, i loved THE HOST! (as djblack1313 runs out of the room in shame…..). i watched it twice! 🙂

      • Zombie-Killa

Hahaha! No problems! Personally, I enjoyed the book more (:

I enjoyed the hell out of ‘Evil Dead’ but I was almost waiting for things to happen from the trailers, when a situation presented itself I could instantly see how the small bit from the trailer would complete the sequence.
Should I be watching ‘The Host’? lol

          • Zombie-Killa

“Should” you watch The Host? Eh, I dunno. IF you have lots of downtime or nothing to do, then yeah! lol.

I just think The Host is a prime example of a novel not being able to make the transition to a big screen movie. As I said before, I REALLY enjoyed the book, but the movie almost gave me a headache and made me cringe at times. lol.

Also, you should probably take everything I say about The Host with a heaping hand of salt, because I didn’t like it. Should’ve waited for djblack’s point of view before I threw my two cents in. lol.

Some of the super gore moments were spoiled I can’t deny but I loved how they used some “false advertising” (maybe its in the directors cut). Some things got switched around is what I’m saying and I was pleasantly surprised.

  • Boonraiser

Definitely the best movie since Let The Right One In, as per one of the posters. I saw this at TIFF and loved that it had a lot of new ideas and it was beautiful to look at, (not just Gemma).

    • djblack1313

Boonraiser, that’s awesome to hear! i can’t wait for this movie!

  • WalkingDeadGuy

Looks great, I’ll definitely check it out.

  • Aaron Emery

I keep forgetting how excited I am for this! It looks gorgeous!

  • LaughingMagician

I can’t pass up anything with Sam Riley, not since he killed it as Ian Curtis in ‘Control’.
