Bloody Disgusting is exclusively being told that Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott are replacing Ace Norton in the directors chair for Cooties, from Saw co-creator and star Leigh Whannell. It will be their feature film debut.
Maniac‘s Elijah Wood, pictured, produces and stars in the film, which goes into production July 15 in Los Angeles.
“The film begins when a mysterious virus hits an isolated elementary school, transforming the pre-adolescent children into a feral swarm of mindless savages. An unlikely hero must lead a motley band of teachers in the fight of their lives against the monstrous pupils.”
Ian Brennan co-wrote the screenplay with Whannell. Both will also make an appearance in the film, which hails from Wood’s The Woodshed and Glacier Films.
