Netflix’s true crime anthology series “Monster” is back this September with “Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story”, and the first teaser introduces this season’s killer with her famous skipping rope rhyme highlighting her vicious slaughter.
Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s anthology series returns with its fourth season on Netflix on September 17.
In the new season, “When the repressed daughter of a wealthy New England family and her rebellious maid find themselves trapped in a house built on humiliation and cruelty, they escape into a fantasy of sex, power, and revenge. The gruesome unsolved murders that follow don’t just shock the world—they give birth to an icon who refuses to live imprisoned in a cage, choosing instead to forge her own legend: shocking, monstrous, and gloriously free.“
Ella Beatty, Vicky Krieps, Charlie Hunnam, Rebecca Hall, Billie Lourd, Joey Pollari, Sarah Paulson, and Jessica Barden star.
The eight-episode season is directed by Max Winkler (episodes 401, 402, 403, 405, 407, 408) and Sarah Adina Smith (404, 406). Ian Brennan writes.
The story of Lizzie Borden, accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe in Fall River, Massachusetts in 1892, has been the subject of various movies and television shows over the years. In fact, a new indie horror movie titled The Lizzie Borden Game just released this year, and Christina Ricci played Borden in Lifetime’s The Lizzie Borden Chronicles in 2015.
What’s interesting to note, though, is that Lizzie Borden won’t be the only killer this season. The new teaser below also gives a peek at Aileen Wuornos and Elizabeth Báthory.
“Monster” launched in 2022 with “The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” and was followed by “The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” and “The Ed Gein Story.”
