[Exclusive] NSFW Music Video Premiere For Today Is The Day’s “Expectations Exceed Reality”

Published

on

Bloody-Disgusting has teamed up with Today Is The Day to try to ruin your Wednesday. Below we have the exclusive music video premiere for “Expectations Exceed Reality”, which comes from their 2011 album Pain Is A Warning (iTunes). Directed by Adam Ahlbrandt, the HIGHLY NSFW video begins with a deranged man torturing a naked woman. From there, things go downhill very quickly. We have put an 18+ age gate on this video for a reason, so watch at your own discretion.

Director Adam Ahlbrandt comments, “Steve Austin and Today Is The Day have changed my life. I’ve learned more about being true to your vision from him then I can ever thank or repay him for. From the first video I directed for Today Is The Day to this one I have counted him as both a friend and mentor. He is one of the few people I’ve ever met in my life who’s work has effected my outlook on the world. He is unwavering and unrelenting, and that quality comes through in his music. One of the things I learned from him very early on was to address your critics through your work. Some have called me a misogynist, this video and next feature film “The Hunters” is my reply.-Adam Ahlbrandt

Austin adds, “Expections Exceed Reality is a trip inside of someone who has nothing to lose. Life has become nothing and nothing has become hopeless, heartless pain. Adam Ahlbrandts vision for this video is sick, disgusting and unnatural. It makes you feel uncomfortable and takes me to a place I don’t want to go, but it is where my blackest dreams run wild.

Head on below to watch the video and head on over to Noisey to stream a new track “Sick Of Your Mouth”, which the band released in February. A new album is tentatively scheduled for late this fall.

Ahlbrandt has directed three prior music videos for Today Is The Day and the band’s music makes up a large portion of the soundtrack for Ahlbrandt’s most recent horror feature film ‘Cross Bearer’ (which is now in a limited film festival release and has been picked up for distribution in German speaking territories by Austria’s Illusions Unltd. along with Ahlbrandt’s ‘The Cemetery’) This new video for the band’s song “Expectations Exceed Reality” could be the combo’s most vile offering yet!

The gory effects in the video were created by special effects master Doug Sakmann who also provided FX on Ahlbrandt’s ‘Cross Bearer’ & ‘The Cemetery’ as well as coordinated FX on the upcoming Troma release “Return To Nuke Em High: Vol 1 & 2”. The video features Gordy Price (‘The Waterman’ with Jason Mews) and Kelsey Lehman (‘Cross Bearer’, ‘Return To Nuke Em High: Vol 1’) as well as Jess Rajs (Gorgeous and Gory Pinups) and Scarlett Storm of the Rigor Mortis Revue.

The video was shot in 24 hours in Philadelphia at various locations including the legendary Woodshop Films Studios and produced by Backseat Conceptions.
