[TV] “Under the Dome” Renewed For Second Season

I personally thought CBS’ “Under the Dome” was a good show, but for whatever reason stopped watching it. Maybe it’s because I already know the outcome? Either way, I may one day revisit them on Netflix…

While I wait for the free time and boredom to factor into my viewing, the show is a massive hit, and CBS announced at the TCA that it has already greenlighted a second season.

The new arc will run 13 episodes, with the first episode penned by Stephen king. Variety first reported.

“’Under the Dome’ centers on a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. The town’s inhabitants must deal with surviving the post-apocalyptic conditions while searching for answers about the dome, where it came from and if and when it will go away.

The miniseries stars Dean Norris, Rachelle Lefevre, Aisha Hinds, Mike Vogel, Natalie Martinez, Britt Robertson and Alexander Koch.

such horrible writing. this should have only been a 13 ep run. the characters aren’t interesting enough to keep this going but whatever.

I’ve not seen it yet, but how are they going to do a second season? Did they not bother thinking up a good ending for this season and the dome is still there?

Thanks to this news I might just skip this. It’ll be the first King thing I’ve missed.

Right from the start King said they were going their own direction.. and it’s pretty obvious it’s not gonna have the same resolution as the book (unless next season makes a severe handbrake turn.)

But really this show is dire.. the first episode cheaped out on effects and introduced the sloppy writing but was watchable.. Episode 2 was one of the worst things since Terra Nova where there were so many inconsistencies (some directly contradicting Ep1) and stupid unrealistic reactions (trapped in a cellar full of potential weapons a kidnapped girl chooses a small leather suitcase to defend herself) it was laughably bad.

My friends and I listed over 65 mistakes and stupid things in that one episode.. and it provided more laughs than a serious show should ever provide.

I knew they were changing the ending (among other things) but this announcement makes me think that they don’t even have an ending for episode 12.

      • Nasher

yeah.. funnily I mentioned that the show feels like it doesn’t know what it is after the 3rd episode.

If it was a 12 part mini series it’s not moving forward enough to get things done.. it feels more like a short run series that’s hoping for a 2nd season… and then they announce a 2nd season. So you know it’s gonna go for more of those ‘go-nowhere’ episodes they have done so badly already.

I thought it was an “event series” and would have a beginning and end, now it’s going longer, I sat through some serious crap to see its end, now I am out.

Show turned into a POS in 4 weeks.
