The First ‘Diablo III’ Expansion Might Be Titled ‘The Dark Below’

Blizzard recently filed a trademark application for a game-related project called The Dark Below that will feature virtual currency and items. That’s all the solid information we have on it for now, but it sure sounds like the title for that Diablo III expansion they promised so long ago.

Just last month Blizzard teased a big Gamescom announcement that would “capture the attention of the Heavens, Burning Hells and all the shadowed places that lie between.” That’s definitely related to Diablo III. We won’t know for sure if this is too until Gamescom kicks off on August 21st.

Until we hear more, tell me — what do you think this is?

Diablo III was no good for me…

They should have kept the graphics in 2D but highly stylized them and made them ultra-HD. When you take any 2D game and change it into 3D, there is likely that it may not do to well to adjust. Sonic The Hedgehog was a prime example of this and Diablo III was sure to follow. I’m surpirsed they are bringing games like Diablo III to PS4 and Xbox One but then again with it being so cheap and easy to port games to PS4 and Xbox One I understand.

You are complaining about the GFX? There are so many other reasons to not like D3…

I’m not sure why you’re surprised they’re bringing the game to more platforms. It received near unanimous critical acclaim (it has an 88 on Metacritic) and sold well over 12 million copies. The game was a massive success, so it makes perfect sense to make it available to a larger audience.

I loved the game, despite the online requirements, auction house and disappointing ending, but the graphics were easily one of my favorite things about it. I love that painterly style.

Oh, and it’s only been confirmed for the PS3, PS4 and Xbox 360. No Xbox One version (yet).

Wait, are you talking about Diablo II…

          Or Diablo III?

I haven’t heard such praises for Diablo III, only it’s criticsm for it’s failures. I too have the game, while it is good, it’s definitely not great.

I don’t believe everything I read, especially from IGN and MeteCritic. These places have become far to biased and we must remember that even if rated by a group -that should never replace our own personal opinion of the game.

I am surprised they are bringing Diablo III to PS4 and Xbox One when they could be doing other things for the next-gen platforms. Nothing more, nothing less 🙂

Still cool that this game and Crysis 3 were confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One though (each with their own exclusive content).

            I’m talking about Diablo III.

I’m glad you don’t believe everything you read, but I’m not sure I understand how Metacritic, as a site, can be bias seeing as it’s an amalgamation of many critics’ reviews. It can’t be bias if it’s made up of hundreds of critics’ opinions.

As for Blizzard doing other things, they’re actually a massive company, so they’re able to focus on multiple projects at any given time. They have different teams working concurrently on each of their IPs (WoW, StarCraft, Diablo) as well as teams that are developing new projects like their next MMO, Project Titan.

Not complaining about the graphics, Diablo III has much better graphics than Diablo II.

Just that the switch from 2-Dimensional gameplay to 2.5 Dimensional graphics is the cause for anything bad that happened in the production of Diablo III.

Most people don’t realize that the switch in this stole the dev’s attention to create the true Diablo experience that fans have come to expect from Diablo III. If anything is broken in Diablo III (which there is alot), it’s due only to this.

As far as Diablo 3 goes, it was what it was. It was a serviceable multiplayer game, but it was watered down compared to 2. It followed Blizzards trend of mediocre graphics but clickfest gameplay (a staple of theirs). But I don’t deny that with a big group of friends, it was *fun*. By yourself? Less so. I’ll get the add on so we can multi it up again, but then, I’m a multi co-op whore… a dirty dirty co-op whore…

I would have to agree on all that.

Maybe in general, Diablo III just isn’t my cup-of-tea.

However, I will say that I thought Diablo II was fun when playing alone. Diablo III, I felt lacked in single player experience.

I myself though, am more of a Single Player experience kinda guy, a loner if you will lol
