Bruce Campbell Confirms ‘Army Of Darkness 2’ Is Happening!!

Last month Evil Dead remake director Fede Alvarez told us that original trilogy director Sam Raimi was now focussed on making Army Of Darkness 2. Now it seems as though Bruce Campbell is confirming both his involvement and the fact that the movie will happen.

He told the crowd at Wizard World Nashville Comic Con, ““The last one was twenty-two years ago. I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I used to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here. He then joked, “Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath. Maybe we could do that, I guess. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be alright. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie. I like it.

But the whole thing isn’t a lark. He ended up on a more serious note and apparently came clean, “Alright sir, the answer is yes.

I’ll be the first one in line.

  • Marty McFly

    Fuck. Yes.

  • Forsythia

Hell yeah! I wonder if we can expect Mia to make an appearance.

    • ckline32

they said they was gonna connect the 2 universes with this new film and so the one after this one would put ash and mia together

      • Carietta_White

Actually, Campbell has been everywhere saying that Fede is “full of crap” and that the two universes will never connect because it’s “not necessary”.

        • sweetooth

Yes I sincerely hope that is just some stupid online rumor because trying to tie in that shit remake with the holy trilogy is just a bad idea plain and simple

          • Panos

Evil Dead was really good actually

        • Panos

Actually Bruce said that this is what they want to do! He said during one of his GROOVY Q&A’s that Sam wants to make AOD2 and also wants Fede to finish Evil Dead 2 and then Sam wants to combine the 2 characters in a final EPIC movie….sooooo yea that’s what they want to do…Bruce never said anything different

  • 3nky

    ho ho great news

  • EvilHead1981

SO great to see so many enthusiasts chime in on this. I thought the comments were going to be the usual, “Oh no! Keep the two continuities apart! Bruce is too old to play Ash! Let the old ED series rest in piece!!!” doom ‘n gloom affair. So glad that isn’t the case. Nice to have some enthusiasm for this!

  • horrorgasm

I’ll believe it when I see it. They’ve been “confirming” this like every year since 2004.

  • mfcmk1

I hope it happens. This is incredible news!

  • Carietta_White

Campbell said this on Friday, and you’re just reporting it now?

He’s also been “confirming” Army of Darkness 2 for years with one-off statements like these, yet somehow it mysteriously never ends up getting made. It’s worth noting he also mildly agreed with Alvarez’ desire to bridge the two series with a final movie, then has spent the rest of the year telling the world Alvarez is “full of crap” at various interviews, that the universes “don’t need” to collide.

Official sources are still dry for info, from Rob Tapert’s Twitter to Campbell’s. You think they’d have actually confirmed it somewhere.

  • waslah

I’d like to see this in context. It doesn’t sound like a confirmation. It sounds like he made fun of the idea, and then as a joke pretended to get all serious and said “yes.” It’s sarcasm. Bruce is a master at it.

  • SweetInsanity

Oh how i wished for this day! Bruce, you are the truly the king.

  • netbal

I was in the audience for this. He makes fun of many fans, gave fans dollars, blessed a child with a light up star wand, answered his phone to make fun of Bank of America, and so forth. It is taken out of context in my own personal opinion. He did the same thing when he was asked if Sam and Jesse were getting a spinoff show with USA networks. He asked the audience if it was what they wanted, and ended with well then there you go, there’s your answer, yes we are. Even though there’s no talk yet. USA has apparently given him support to work on some project for them, but he wouldn’t say what.

The quote in the article is correct, but you should really try and find a video of it, because to me, it shouldn’t be taken seriously.

  • palimime

I was in Nashville as well for the Bruce Campbell vs The Audience event. He was just having fun with everyone and the comment was made in a totally sarcastic tone. You could tell that he was just having fun with the audience the entire time. The only part that I believed wasn’t just for laughs was the part about USA offering him an undisclosed show. Very funny man by the way. Go check him out at one of the Comic Cons if you get the chance. Just be aware nearly everything he says is in a “Roast the Audience” format.

  • SonOfVoorhees

I hope they take his age into account. I would love it if he played Ash like he played elvis in Bubbahotep. An older man. The remake was to serious and had zero fun in it. Granted, the original Evil Dead was serious, but you cant now make Ash and ED/AoD serious.

So older Ash with a walking stick would be fun. Just sick of these older actors in movies where they act like 20 year olds – if your 50, make yourself a kick ass 50 yr old aka Bruce in Bubba Ho Tep.

  • KidKobun

Just made my entire week with this news!!!

  • NonieBologna

I cant help but swoon for Bruce Campbell, It may not be as good as the old ones but still, If Ash is in then I’ll be pleased.
