Bloody Disgusting’s Evan Dickson is at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood for Beyond Fest’s screening of Michael Dougherty’s cult classic anthology Trick ‘r Treat where some major news was just announced. As you can tell by the title of this story, Sam is back!
“Here at the screening and during the Q+A Sam came out with a note asking Michael Dougherty to make a sequel,” Dickson explains. “Dougherty says it’s not his call…it’s Thomas Tull from Legendary’s call.”
“This is when the Thomas Tull stands up in the audience and exclaims, ‘I can’t say no to Sam. Let’s make a sequel!’ ”
This is when the title card for Trick ‘r Treat 2 blasted on the screen to roaring exclamation from the audience!
The 2009 anthology features four interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; and a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband.
Bloody Disgusting wrote the first review ever for the film.
