[Random Cool] Trailer For The Lost ‘Halloween’ Movie Between ‘Season Of The Witch’ And ‘The Return Of Michael Myers’!

This is pretty cool and the VHS look really works save for the fact that these actors don’t look like stars from the 80’s. Director Jay Burleson has teamed with actor V/H/S and You’re Next actor Lane Hughes to create a trailer for the “lost” film Halloween: Harvest Of Souls.

Just as good as the trailer is the backstory they came up with for this thing, which is specific enough to almost be believable. “After the failure of ‘Halloween III: Season of the Witch’, the rights to the ‘Halloween’ franchise were lost in the shuffle of a merger, and a sequel to ‘Halloween II’ was quickly rushed into production by a new team of producers. The new installment, ‘Halloween: Harvest of Souls’, was viewed as a direct sequel to the second film and would be a true ‘Halloween III’ with Michael Myers.

The film was made on a shoestring budget, even less than Carpenter’s original, and did not feature a return by Jamie Lee Curtis. The character of Loomis returns, still played by Donald Pleasence, but in a limited capacity. To keep pace with the height of the ’80s slasher craze, Harvest of Souls featured extreme nudity and gore, and had yet to receive better than an X-rating before it was canned.

Original series producer Moustapha Akkad tied the rights up with a long legal battle, which he ultimately won, and ‘Harvest of Souls’ was shelved altogether in favor of ‘Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers’, which was released in 1988, three years after Souls was filmed. Until recently, ‘Harvest of Souls’ was nothing more than an urban legend, the original film print long lost, the knowledge of its very existence scarce. A lone VHS tape, found in an abandoned storage locker, containing the X-rated cut of the film and a very tame ‘PG’ trailer, recently surfaced and that brings us to the here and now. The release of the aforementioned trailer and proof that this urban legend is real.

Loved this trailer! I wish someone would actually shoot this into a movie

  • djblack1313

meh….kinda corny. it comes across like a good companion piece with Eli Roth’s THANKSGIVING. 🙂

  • Golic

    that was really bad…REALLY bad.

    • MachineGunGandhi

      ^ This :\

      • Skull-And-Crossbones

to be fair most trailers from that time sucked ass. just take a look on youtube at the friday the 13th movies and others. i’d love to see this though, even if it’s terrible. can’t be any worse then Halloween: Resurrection. keeping myers out of the third one ruined that franchise IMO.

        • Skull-And-Crossbones

dont get me wrong though, halloween is my favorite horror franchise. i love the first 2 and i even love H20. it’s a quality over quantity case here. but the franchise could’ve been even better if they had just kept building off of the first 2 without diverting too far away from the original formula.

  • Rendrogy

    I’d absolutely watch that!

  • lilmarkuk

wow what shite was that lol

  • judeau13

That was awesome! They completely nailed the 80’s slasher trailer vibe. It is even more effective if you actually read the “low budget backstory” of the film. Bravo guys! And to be fair, as cheap and corny as it looks, it still looks like a better film than anything after part 3. OK, maybe the producers cut of 6 would still be better but that would be all.

Baseball bat to the back window of the car. Must see how that kill ends.

  • ThunderDragoon

I loved it. What can I say, I’m a junky for anything Halloween.

  • diapers

I would watch the feature length. I’d have to be high as a kite, but I would watch it.

  • Mark Ross

    Awesome! I’d watch it.

  • Dr_Loomis

I would love to see the whole film.

  • MaryOudeans

I would watch this but I don’t think I would really enjoy it. The mask is horrible. Whats up with his hair? And the Acting is ridiculous. But I can’t help myself with Halloween. I LOVE Michael! lol

  • Voorhees83

Looked more like a spoof to me.

  • HorrorLover995

Honestly, no. Just no. It’s a wannabe Halloween film made by corny 80’s directors. I’m glad it never won the legal battle because this would have honestly ruined the Halloween name.

You really should have read the article more closely.

  • luticrist

They could have at least attempted to take it seriously. And whoever played Michael had terrible mannerisms. Especially when he’s standing behind the girl on the couch holding his hands together like an OG or something. That’s the same stance they made me do during my friends wedding. Someone already said it best, this looks exactly like Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving trailer, except Thanksgiving was good. This isn’t even funny in it’s utter corniness.

    • Greg

Thank you! I thought it was so strange that he had his arms folded like that.

  • EvilHead1981

They should’ve tried a little more to 80s-up the look of those girls. Wouldn’t be too hard.

  • theshapetrilogy

Ehhh. This is a cheap camcorder fan film based on the Halloween movies. I made three of these myself in feature length. They’re cool to watch for any Halloween fan, but they’re a dime a dozen out there.

  • GhostCruiser

I am the biggest halloween fan but this just looks so horrible. It looks more funny than scary, glad they didn’t make it. If anything it looks like a good fan made movie

  • CarnivalOfCarnage

Loved this trailer very grindhouse hope there is more of it like a nice short

  • HalloweenVic

Well I’m sure my display name gives it away clearly I’m a huge Halloween fan obviously my favorite horror franchise!! But I liked this concept wish it was actually made honestly season of the witch should’ve been it’s own film not a HALLOWEEN film I’m actually up for a prequel type film take us to the events that happened between part 3 and 4 I know Michael was in a coma for ten years but they can definitely come up with something!!

  • VictorCrowley

    I feel like I just got rick-rolled.

  • MrMyers
