Developer Naughty Dog’s heart-wrenching post-apocalyptic masterpiece The Last of Us isn’t done yet. There’s still some DLC on the way, we’re just not sure when it’ll arrive. Left Behind, an expansion for the single-player story, follows Ellie and her best friend Riley and will focus on the relationship between the two. Ashley Johnson, the actress who plays Ellie, spilled some details on the mood of it, saying we’ll get to see a more playful side to her character.
“It’s a little bit more ‘fun,’ because you have two teenage girls going through a mall. It’s kind of like a post-pandemic version of two teenage girls hanging out. Definitely not a normal hangout! It’s very different–a little more playful,” Johnson told the PlayStation Blog.
It sounds significantly less grim, so I’m looking forward to seeing how that plays out in a game that definitely made me sob like a baby in the first ten minutes.
Johnson touched on the tweaks made to the combat, too, saying “There’s a bit of everything in there. You’re really getting a new sense of the environment. You’ll engage in combat that seems familiar from the original campaign, but there are some new touches and nuances, too.”
