Variety reports that 12 Years Slave‘s Alfre Woodard, pictured below right, has joined production of Annabelle, New Line’s spinoff of The Conjuring, which began shooting this week in Los Angeles.
Annabelle Wallis and Ward Horton are starring in Annabelle with John Leonetti, the cinematographer on The Conjuring, directing from a script by Gary Dauberman. Eric Ladin and Brian Howe also star.
The Conjuring included a haunted doll named Annabelle as part of a collection of demonic objects assembled by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who were portrayed by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. As previously reported, New Line is still developing a sequel to The Conjuring.
Peter Safran and The Conjuring director James Wan are producing.
