‘Friday the 13′ Re-Remake Slashing to November

1-Friday-the-13th-620x400

Breaking news this Friday afternoon as fans of Pamela and Jason Voorhees are going to have to wait six months longer than originally thought for Friday the 13th.

Sources tell Bloody Disgusting that the Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes-produced re-remake will now hit theaters on November 13, 2015, a heavy shift from the original March date.

David Bruckner (The Signal, V/H/S) is in talks to retell the Voorhees family story, although he’s yet to be confirmed.

It will not be a found-footage reboot. With that said, what do you guys want to see in the next F13?

  • dangerzone79

Let my start by pointing out that March to November is 8 months… not 6. But what I want to see most in the movie, like everyone has been saying, is Jason in the snow. Just imagine the contrast of white snow & bright red blood.

    • ThunderDragoon

Same here. That’s all I’m asking for.

    • Guest

Even if the story is shit? “He’s gotta be in the snow!” I could give a fuck about the weather, give me a good story.

      • J Jett

right, Guest, because all the other F13 movies had such in depth, cerebral storylines. LOL.

        • RidleyScottIsADirector@gmail.c

It’s that kind of thinking that makes them not care, and churn out garbage like 7, 8, 9 and 10. Zip it.

          • michaeldal65

Hey hey don’t you go rubbishing #7. Classic entry.

          • Adam Clifton

Those sequels you mentioned had gimmicks, not story. 7 had telekinetic showdown. 8 had New York. 9 had Body-Hopping Jason and 10 had Cyber-Jason

          • RidleyScottIsADirector@gmail.c

            My point exaaaaactly.

          • J Jett

RidleyScott if that is directed at me…fuck off dick. LOL.

  • Gianmarco Calandrini

Just VIOLENCE! and i think that Nicola Peltz(Bates Motel) would be perfect for the lead role.

    • J Jett

Gianmarco, considering Nicola’s Bradley nearly ruins season 1 and some of season 2 of BATES i don’t think she’s the best choice. if she can drop that fake baby doll voice and not be super-annoying then maybe she’d be alright.

      • Gianmarco Calandrini

I understand Jett, but “that fake baby doll voice” would be perfect for a hot blonde chick that run away from Jason!

  • RidleyScottIsADirector@gmail.c

To the filmmakers: Focus on the STORY, and NOT the gimmick (i.e. found footage). I am optimistic that the decision for this not to be FF is a step in the direction of a movie with a good story.

  • HatchetDrive

What about the remake that was just done a couple of years ago?

    • RidleyScottIsADirector@gmail.c

      …yes, what about it?

      • HatchetDrive

They don’t need yet another one. Ridiculous.

        • RidleyScottIsADirector@gmail.c

Who’s “they”? Who “needs” any film?

Ready or not, it’s coming. And you’ll be watching.

        • Kroenenrules1

…why not? Because it’s another remake? Most of the sequels have different characters anyway, so what does it fucking matter?

  • amp69

    Yes!!!

  • Francesco Falciani

is it the first f13th that was released in fall-winter?

  • Adam Clifton

I want some connection to the previous Friday the 13ths (not necessarily the 2009 one). I want some flashback scenes to a past movie to help that connection instead of refilming it with Nana Visitor. Also, Harry Manfredini’s score HAS to be used. It’s a part of Jason like his hockey mask. A winter setting would be awesome for the 13th installment

    • J Jett

Adam, i agree! Manfredini’s score MUST be used. the lack of it in the reboot was glaring.

  • Kroenenrules1

Idunno if this is a good move. Mockingjay part 2 will be hitting theaters that same months, and we know that’s gonna be making a lot of money.

  • J Jett

could this November release also be hinting at a winter setting F13??? hint…hint. god, i’d love a snowy/winter setting for this F13 sequel! and once again…PLEASE NO FOUND FOOTAGE CRAP!!

  • ripper27

We need a strong portrayal of Jason – it’s probably the most vital part of the film. When Jason was recast from the inimitable Kane Hodder for the first reboot it damaged the remakes, he made Jason a brutal, deliberate killer and with his foreboding, large figure he will be the one name we always associate with our favourite hockey masked killer.

In fact can’t we just get Hodder back?

  • Michael Pavicic

    Expected,i’m really getting pissed off

  • SaltSlasher

Maybe it is a sign that this dude shouldn’t make this film. Maybe someone who knows how to make real movies, to make a real movie. They type you got to the theater for.

Found footage is for straight to dvd, or people looking for a quick buck, not for re-vitalizing one of Horrors greatest franchises that has been rebooted like 3 times since #9.

I wish they had Rob Zombie. How he made a set of sequels for Halloween was awesome. Yeah it was literally a remake, and that isn’t what I want, but it is better than a new “re-boot” every 5 years. I want a new saga of 6 movies. That way they can intertwine plot lines and build the legend.

I just hope we don’t get this shaking camera pop and scare crap, with little to no boobs and blood. The absolute worst part about found footage is the “voice acting” of the camera man trying to explain what he is doing and the people making these “found footage” movies trying so hard to try and make it feel real, when reality isn’t what we want, 4th kind was the prime example because they crammed it down your throat to make you believe it was real. We didn’t love all the movies in 80′s because they made sense or that we actually believed.

If there is 1 thing wrong with movies in the last era, is the fact that they take “supernatural” and “none-real” things, and are trying to adapt them into the real world. I am a lover and a hater of realism in movies, because I love when characters are out of this world and so unreal but I hate it when they take them and make them fit in real life. I hate when they do stuff completely full of crap, like Danny Glover jumping off a building into a man hole, and his arms didn’t snap off when he doesn’t fit. I hate when a fully trained group of guys with technology that doesn’t exist can’t defeat a predator, but then some out of shape cop is capable of beating a predator.

    • Justin Cantrell

Keep Rob Zombie far away from this film…

      • Michael Pavicic

Why?There would be cool kills, lots of blood and gore, isn’t that what other F13th movies were about.

        • SuperFloyd35 .

          because Halloween was bad enough.

          • Michael Pavicic

Halloween 1 and 2 were great, most people love them, only die hards hate them.70% love it 30% hate it, same goes for F13th remake

          • Master99

Sorry, but NO ONE liked zombie’s Halloween II. It was easy to tell that he wanted to kill the franchise with that movie.

          • John Connor

The theatrical cut of Rob Zombie’s Halloween II is a masterpiece. Though, if you don’t interpret the film like I do, it can totally be seen as a piece of shit.

          • Michael Pavicic

Maybe you don’t,but majority are starting to like it as time passes by,and you can’t kill the franchise if the new one is made

          • Master99

Zombie’s Halloween 2 was by far the worst one of the entire series. I have yet to run into anyone who like that movie, I would love to know where you are getting your stats that shows people are starting to like the movie now? Thankfully from what I have heard so far Zombie will not be involved at all with Halloween 3D.

    • RidleyScottIsADirector@gmail.c

      yeah

  • Justin Cantrell

They need to make the death scene’s more creative, the reboot’s death scene’s were terrible..bring Derek Mears back,he was amazing in the reboot, get some hot young talent like Olivia Cooke, (Bates Motel) Jane Levy, (Evil Dead 2013) Emilia Clarke, (Game Of Thrones),No more reboot stories, make something new,a fresh story.Maybe something like a family found’s out that they inherited camp crystal lake,or they reopen the park,or maybe pick up right after the last one as Jason kills both the survivor’s then pick’s up years later in the snow…it’s not rocket science to come up with a story for a slasher film, know what the audience comes to see a Friday the 13th movie for, kills, jump scares,it’s a Friday the 13th movie…not Wolf Of Wall Street.

    • Michael Pavicic

      Emilia Clarke LOL

      • Justin Cantrell

Being in a Friday the 13th film is a big deal,it makes you apart of a legacy that has an amazing fan base.I think she would would do it if she was the main star. She is in the new Terminator, which isn’t much, considering Terminator Salvation was complete ass.

        • Michael Pavicic

You know how big hollywood actors/actresses are when they become famous

    • SuperKilla

Couldn’t of said it better myself. I was really upset with the death scenes in the reboot. Mears rocks but Kane Hodder would bring back a good vibe from some of the older films.

  • Tim Gosnell

F13 ’09 FINISHED filming June 13th 2008. This one hasn’t even begun. Did anyone really expect this to make the march release date??

    • RidleyScottIsADirector@gmail.c

Uh no, nobody is saying they expected it to, so calm down.

  • REC03

im glad they are giving it some extra time. i would rather wait a bit for a hopefully better film. as far as story i think they should take a page out of Jurassic World and have a small group of teens (and adults) re-open Crystal Lake, Jason shows up and wackiness ensues. as long as the characters are written well, it has a spooky atmosphere again and the kills are good then thats all i need. they don’t need to re-invent the wheel just make a solid film.

    • Justin Cantrell

This is what im talking about….perfect.Something simple, yet could be really interesting.

  • David Angle

It would be nice to see people who didn’t act like idiots and actually had emotions. Not everyone has to be an asshole. Also it have some logic. What annoyed me the most from the remake was the lack of true interactions with Crystal Lake and overall delving into Jason’s back story. One thing I loved? Was that he was angry. Fuel raged by trespassers on his mother’s passing ground. A beast with a brain.

But the way Jason found his mask from the remake was pretty damn stupid.

  • Christensen

    Yawn it’s a re-reboot. The 2009 film wasn’t even a remake it was just a reboot.

    • John Connor

It was a remake. New universe. The term ‘reboot’ shouldn’t be used anymore as it makes absolutely no sense because it can mean anything. Sequels, remakes, and everything in between have been labeled as ‘reboots’. That shit needs to stop.

      • Christensen

Wikipedia the term “reboot”. A reboot introduces a new universe. It makes more sense than calling a film that wasn’t a remake of any other film a “remake”. So shut up.

  • David Angle

But omg. If Vera Farmiga was not playing the best version of Norma Bates I would say…let her become the mother of a handicapped boy who gets bullied and goes to murderous lengths to avenge his death!

I mean its tragic, I am sure she sent him to make friends but instead drowns in guilt due to letting the world open to her child. Seriously these themes of abuse and bullying are very prelevant to this day…and sometimes it can go wrong for one person and lead a snowball effect.

    • Justin Cantrell

we have seen the reboot way to many time’s..let’s move on…we all know the origin of Jason.

  • Daniel Sadler

I want to see Winter at Crystal Lake, a November release date would be great for that!

    • Michael Pavicic

      Me too,would be cool :)

    • John Connor

A Christmas theme would be wonderful (resurrection and messiah-like qualities and all that). Get Shane Black.

  • STRIK9

Why dont they release it around Halloween time? Seems appropriate.

    • Michael Pavicic

Halloween 3 will be released then

    • SuperKilla

Plus there is no Friday the 13 date in October of 2015.

  • WalkingDeadGuy

I still say they should set it in the 1980′s – like a long lost sequel from the original franchise :)

    • Celso Pïn Júnior

and get Ti West to direct it on a House of the Devil kind of way. :)

      • Jon Phil

HELL NO. that would be the Worst person to do this…no no no no no way

  • Bradley

    Nope.

  • c-s-a78

bring back the original survivors from all 12 films.jason must finish what he started!!!

  • pcarter75

I want to see a Friday The 13th done in a grungy style like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I want to see the movie more from Jason’s eyes rather than his clueless victims. I want to see more emotion in the movie like in Rob Zombie’s remake of Halloween. You could feel Michael Myers rage pouring out when he killed. The last Friday had too many Hollywood style kills in it. I liked some things such as seeing where Jason lived, but the kills were all about style and not about releasing the rage from within. Jason is quiet like Michael, but he can still show his emotion through his kills. Hopefully there will be better characters in the movie too. Most of the actors were so bad I was praying for Jason to kill them so I wouldn’t have to hear them speak again. If it’s done right Jason could make the comeback he deserves.

    • http://evpoe.blogspot.gr/ Ο Κυριος Αυτος

you are describing the 2009 remake.

      • John Connor

Yes, but they could have really taken it even further and made you really relate to Jason or sympathize with him to the point where you don’t blame what he’s doing (you’d actually feel what he feels).

    • John Connor

      I like you.

  • Francesco Falciani

i hopr Bloody-disgusting are right about NO found footage ’cause it seems to be the only one to know that. and yes it will be the first f13th to be released in fall.

  • Francesco Falciani

the only bad thing is that HUNGER GAMES will be out the week after.

  • Jesse Sikora

    I wanna see Tommy Jarvis

  • VictorCrowley

Very happy it won’t be found footage.

  • Godzilla Wakes

Happy it won’t be found footage but I would also like to have seen what they did with it. I’m a little torn with these remakes, I always get excited and I’m usually let down. Hopeful this one can buck the trend.

  • Master99

I know I will get thumbed down for this, but I hope we get the super powered zombie Jason this time. The last Jason reminded me too much of a wrong turn hillbilly Jason.

    • Tim Gosnell

I would be down for that. Pull a Halloween H20 and forget ALL the Newline entries and continue where JTM left off. Not exactly in NY cause it was bad but in Crystal Lake…

  • bloody-ian

    Here’s a thought:
Change the setting…seriously. Have a luxury housing development going in across the lake from the old camp and the events of the 2009 film. Not all the homes are occupied or fully constructed. Some of the occupants are the corporate investors family and friends.

This does 3 things: Gives Jason new toys (construction tools); Changes up the setting without changing the location; and allows for some commentary on cooperate greed and reckless development. It still gives a group of teenagers (couple construction workers and residence kids) but adds a wider demographic to face-off against Jason.

I think it should take place after the reboot. The story has died down and Jason is all but forgotten. Property values are cheap and it’s a nice resort lake. Plus, it can show distress between the traumatized local community and the ‘investor-class’. Plus, there can be fun scenes with the ‘crazy old man/woman’ warning them.

It should be zombie-Jason (‘re-animated’ is a better). The only trick is how to re-animate him. I’m a fan of lightning (Part 6) but maybe it doesn’t have to be so theatrical. Maybe it’s Jason’s birthday (Friday the 13th) and if he is dead, he get’s back up. A mother’s love.

    • Adam Clifton

I can picture Jason grabbing a tree logger in the woods while the woodchipper is on, about to put the guy in there head-first when Jason changes his mind and switches the guy around, putting him in feet-first instead. I can also picture Jason swinging a loaded beartrap at another logger’s head as a weapon. They need to do this

    • John Connor

I absolutely love that idea. Jason vs. corporate assholes. I really wish I was in charge of making this film. Jason and his mother killing together would be wonderful.

I have some great ideas that I don’t even want to mention because I really do want to use them myself.

I know the makers read these things. Nothing wrong with that.

    • Jon Phil

Why Why WHY Couldn’t They Pay you to make this movie????
And why WHY Didn’t any of the previews writers of the franchise ever think of this?
This seems so obvious, SO Obvious, and so perfect……. I really don’t understand
But I really love this idea, picturing in my head, yeah this would be a great movie

    • bloody-ian

Thanks Jon Phil, John Connor, and Adam Clifton! I’m glad others dig it!
Sorry it took 2 months to comment back. I’ve been watching Elvira movies!!!
Oh, if you’re so inclined, this is a comic I’m working on…slowly. I work 3 apron jobs. https://www.facebook.com/DollfaceWillGetYou?ref_type=bookmark

  • Krug09

Platinum Dunes are producing… another remake… but they already did the 09 remake wtf? give someone else a chance to make a good movie.

  • Adam Paquette

they better not fuck this up, its the 13th movie in the series, im hoping that them pushing the release date back is so they can use the time to make a good movie. dont get me wrong i did enjoy the 2009 remake/reboot, but there could have been some changes, like where was the “ch chch chahahahahh” or the violins that Harry used in the originals? Put those in the next one and it will certainly help.

  • http://www.donthaveone.com.au.org bloodandgore87

if David Bruckner is directing the film that’s fine, hopefully the movie wont be shit with him giving orders so…it should be fun

  • redlefthand

Stick to the original 1980′s formula. Have the action occur at a working summer camp. Keep it sleek with a fresh faced cast. And do not delve too deep into the origins of Jason and Pamela. We don’t need another Rob Zombie Halloween. God… just let me write, produce, and direct this film!

  • Caesar

Thank the Lord that it’s not found footage. That crap has been overused to hell and I’m getting real sick of it. Friday the 13th deserves to be treated so much better.

  • Francesco Falciani

just wondering…if they’ll release it in november (that i doubt…i can see a may 13th 2016 ahead) when they’ll start to roll it? thsi november???

  • Jon Phil

    Why do a remake again?

Why not set the new movie 5 years from the last one? it doesn’t have to be a complete sequel, just a new story with the same Jason. I don’t get it.

  • Francesco Falciani

we have to say this : PARAMOUNT and PLATINUM are two of the worst to talk to fans…no news…no updates NOTHING!!!

  • 28 Billion Dollar Man

    Again???? Why?

  • Francesco Falciani

    wondering when will hear more!!!
