Play ‘Alien: Isolation’ in a Giant Alien Egg Pod at #SDCC!
If you’re planning on attending Comic Con — our annual four day-long celebration of all things geek — you may want to stop by Future US booth #241 for a chance to play Alien: Isolation. This won’t be your run-of-the-mill show floor demo, no sir, because they’re giving fans the chance to play the game while inside a massive alien egg pod. If you are attending the event, please visit the pod and report back here so I can live vicariously through you.
Comic Con kicks off on July 24, where it will run through to July 27. Feel free to check out our hub for all the Comic Con coverage you could ever want.
In related news, SEGA recently confirmed the Nostromo Edition — originally revealed as a preorder exclusive — will be made available as DLC, likely for a fee, some time after the game releases. You can see the two bonus levels it brings with it, complete with the cast from the original Alien, below.
Alien: Isolation will arrive on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on October 7.
In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).
Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.
While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.
The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.
Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.
