At a Killing Floor 2 preview event held earlier this week, Tripwire Interactive announced their plans to release a live-action short film based on their hit horror series titled Killing Floor: Uncovered. The film is being crafted by Type AB, the studio that brought us the 2014 horror short Delivery: The Beast Within. I had the chance to see an early cut of the film’s trailer, which seems to take some inspiration from Resident Evil and Doom.
Similar to the teaser for Resident Evil: Apocalypse, the trailer starts off as a faux commercial for Horzine Biotech, the corporation in Killing Floor that’s responsible for the monsters you spend so much time mowing down in the game. When the video feed gets the disrupted, it transitions to some first person footage of a man with a gun as tries to shoot his way through a room filled with ZEDs.
I was only given a brief look at Killing Floor: Uncovered, but it was enough to get my attention. It certainly looks interesting, and after enduring some spectacularly awful Dead Space animated films I’m glad they’re taking the live-action approach.
The film doesn’t have a release date yet, but I imagine they’ll want to get it out around the same time that Killing Floor 2 releases. Until then, enjoy these stills from the trailer!
