[FEAR Awards] The Most Horrific Monsters of 2014!

Much of the time, horror games are only as effective as their antagonist(s). A stellar cast of baddies can be enough to forgive a flawed horror game, just as a poorly realized cast can ruin an otherwise good one. Silent Hill: Downpour, for example, could’ve claimed a spot among the franchise’s best games, had it not stumbled so spectacularly with its creature designs.

I’ve gathered five horror game antagonists that were especially memorable — help us decide which one did it best by voting below!

VOTE IN THE FEAR AWARDS:
Greatest Gore | Scariest Game | Best Monster | Best Multiplayer | Most Original
Best DLC | Best New IP | Most Disappointing | Best Indie | Horror Game of the Year

For the unfamiliar, The FEAR Awards is your chance to pick the best and worst horror games of the year. I’ll reveal a new category and its respective nominees every day until Jan 10. From there, voting will remain open until Jan 15, followed by a reveal of all of the winners on Jan 16.

The xenomorph is TERRIFYING! But the groom… I never feared for my penis before

  • Cheshire TrollCat

I want to vote for the groom, but he is a human not a monster. Now its between xenomorph and Laura. Decisions, decisions.

    • Cheshire TrollCat

Even though the alien is terrifying, i went with Laura.

    • Are you saying humans can’t be monsters?

      • Cheshire TrollCat

I knew i was going to get a sarcastic response akin to yours. You know what i mean…

        • Glad I didn’t disappoint! 🙂

          • Cheshire TrollCat

            You never do.

  • Harley Mitchel Dirk

Definitely have to go with the Alien, my favourite monster.

Jayden . true that Francis `s remark is great, on thursday I bought a great Porsche 911 after earning $6569 this past 5 weeks and-a little over, $10 thousand this past month . with-out any doubt it’s the most-financially rewarding I have ever done . I started this seven months/ago and right away brought home minimum $86, per-hr . view website…….>> -> extremely simple jobs for all!!! <-

I wish Francis gets run over by his Porsche

The groom and his grin. o_O

  • ThunderDragoon

I instantly thought of The Groom when I read the title. So freaky.

I keep getting the image of the groom with that smile and those white glowing eyes in the night vision. I just started playing Outlast and Whistleblower on my new Youtube channel and I’m absolutely terrified.

And I hate myself for doing this but here’s my shameless self-promotion : http://www.youtube.com/user/Haralambos4

I just recently got really into it and I’m hoping to grow it and review a bunch of horror movies and play some games… Ok I’m done. Haha

  • Conan

Went for the Alien. Its scary because it actually hunts you down. A lot of horror games just have jump scares.

  • aFriendlyAgenda

I liked boobydook when you didn’t see it.

When you saw it it was kinda slenderman,
but at the end when you dont see it,
    the suggestion is more interesting.

  • TheAcidSkull

Laura, definitely. I found the Groom to be kind of funny. Scary, but funny too.
I know I know, I’m fucked up in the head.

  • Brodequin

    Hisssss…

  • Taboo

Lot’s of very good contenders in this poll, but Alien has my vote!

  • The groom is by far the scariest as he is just a “real” person rather than some supernatural or alien monster. The whole chase scene in Whistleblower made me crap my pants

    • LoveAnimation

Supernatural horror is way scarier than normal human killers in my opinion because against demons, ghosts and other evil forces it feels on lots of horror stuff that no matter how much you try to escape or fight back the evil will still get you eventually and it gives you a big feeling of being helpless and that theres nothing you can do about it.
Against human killers and crazy people it feels way more like its possible to escape or hide from him or fight back so it does not give me the same feeling of hopelesness and despair.
Also supernatural horror is often about things going on in the characters minds and there pasts and is often about the characters going insane while horror with humans is only really about finding a way to escape or kill the bad guy.

  • Laura Jayne

    Vote for the groom

  • redeyedjedi410

    easily the groom.

  • KillerMuller

Groom,by far.Edward Gluskin singing on the dark hallways still scares the crap out of me.And he have a great story if you read it in the documents
