[FEAR Awards] Vote for 2014’s Horror Game of the Year!

This is the final category in our FEAR Awards, but don’t fret, because we’ve saved the best for last. Bloody Disgusting’s Horror Game of the Year is special in that it’s chosen by our readers and is reserved exclusively for games of the spooky scary persuasion. Red Barrels took it home last year with their debut game Outlast, which successfully beat out The Last of Us and the first season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead.

I think it’s safe to say the nominees in this category are all evenly matched. That will probably only make voting for the best even more difficult, but I believe in you.

You have until Thursday, January 15th to get your votes in. Come Friday, I’ll reveal the best and worst horror games of 2014, as chosen by you.

VOTE IN THE FEAR AWARDS:
Greatest Gore | Scariest Game | Best Monster | Best Multiplayer | Most Original
Best DLC | Best New IP | Most Disappointing | Best Indie | Horror Game of the Year

    The Evil Within, definitely.

    • Cheshire TrollCat

Yeah i had more fun with it.

  • Phendranah

    Alien Isolation!

  • LoveAnimation

The Evil Within and P.T are the best ones in my opinion.

The Evil Within or Alien Isolation? These are the questions that i ask myself. Seriously though. Its always been cut and dry, this was actually a great year for horror!!!

  • ThunderDragoon

    Outlast: Whistleblower for me.

  • Ozena

For me, it’s easily between Isolation or Evil Within. Played much more Isolation.

  • For me, it’s easily between Isolation or Evil Within. Played much more Isolation. Last of Us is to old, I can’t count that again. & I never got to try Forest even though I want to very bad. Walking Dead is always fantastic but I never finished S2, game is so mentally and emotionally draining.

Yeah, and the ending to Walking Dead season 2 doesn’t make things any easier.(still worth playing)

      • Considered picking it back up yesterday, have a friend playing through them right now so mite go at the same time. Tonight I ended up doing First Light. Decent.

Has to be Alien Isolation. Waited years to play that game.

  • I was consumed by the incredible sense of dread in P.T, despite it being a ‘teaser game’.

Not sure how Diablo III: Reaper of Souls made the shortlist. Don’t get me wrong, the game has come such a long way since it’s underwhelming launch in 2012, but it’s not a horror title. It’s a fantasy-action adventure through and through.

The first game had a heavy element of gothic horror, but not even the second game continued that trend.

    Alien: Isolation, no doubt!

  • Conan

Alien Isolation. Fact your getting hunted through the game made it scary. At one point i spent 35 minutes going back and forward to the same locker because the Alien wouldnt live and would exit and double back. One time it waited for me around a corner and i only noticed it their as its tail was poking around the corner. lol.

Some of the games on this list are just made up of jump scares.

  • Derek Behrends

Alien: Isolation without a doubt scared me the most because being stalked is the scariest thing ever. But Walking Dead, PT, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and Outlast: Whistleblower were all so much fun. Great year for horror games.

  • Mr. Awesome

Last of Us Remastered. It was a perfect game made even better. Either that or Evil Within.

Alien Isolation was a bowl of turds.
Edit – It may has been alright for horror, if that is what we’re voting here. Overall as a game, see above statement.

The Evil Within for me. Just about to finish it for the second time and I’m nowhere near being bored with it. Close second goes to Alien: Isolation, without a doubt. Very good games. Two other games I wish were on this list are Neverending Nightmares and Claire.

  • Lewida Funji

Outlast: Whistleblower is one helluva heart-pumping roller coaster ride.

  • Brodequin

Just curious: if there is The Last of Us Remastered on that list why are not both of Metro Redux?

  • Sutter Cane

I went with the Vanishing of Ethan Carter

  • Flu-Like Symptoms

    Alien Isolation

  • Biscoito18

Love TEW but Alien Isolation its the best of the year. Amazing hard and innovative game.
