It’s been a while since I’ve brought a band for everyone to check out and I’m very sorry about that. But I think I’ve got an incredibly interesting group here that will challenge a fair bit of you. Allow me to introduce you to Whale Fall, a five piece instrumental post rock group based out of Los Angeles.
The band has released their sophomore full length album The Madrean late last year and it’s a rather stunning piece of music, one of those albums that takes you journey full of peaks and valleys. The album takes influences from artists such as Ennio Morricone, Mono, Explosions In The Sky, and similar. The group’s past projects have seen their music land on numerous soundtracks, including The X-Files, Kiss Of Death, Up In The Air, and more.
The best way I can describe them is if Russian Circles is too heavy for you and you find Death Cab For Cutie‘s vocals incessantly annoying, Whale Fall‘s The Madrean might very well be the perfect balance that you’ve been searching for.
Head below to stream the entirety of The Madrean, which you can purchase digitally via Bandcamp. That link also has the option to pre-order a deluxe double-gatefold vinyl, which will begin shipping towards the end of April/beginning of May.
