Horror fans are going to explode when I reveal who is joining the cast of Leatherface, the prequel to Tobe Hooper’s 1974 The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
I have exclusively confirmed that Angela Bettis is in talks to play ‘Verna’, the mother of the Sawyer family.
She will join EastEnders star Sam Strike, who was just cast as ‘Jackson’, an attractive young boy who will eventually grow up to become Leatherface.
Bettis has deep roots in the horror community, starring in Lucky McKee’s May (2002), as well as remakes of Toolbox Murders and Carrie, and even The Woods, Scar 3-D and The Woman.
As we exclusively reported back on Halloween, Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, the duo behind the slasher masterpiece Inside (À l’intérieur), as well as Livide and the forthcoming Among the Living, will be helming Leatherface for Millienum and Lionsgate.
Millennium Films, who was behind the 2013 Texas Chainsaw 3D, is once again producing with Christa Campbell, Lati Grobman and Carl Mazzacone, for Lionsgate.
