Hard “R” Rating For ‘Alien: Covenant,’ Says Ridley Scott!

Ridley Scott has dropped all the bullshit and is embracing the animalistic nature of his Alien franchise.

Even though Prometheus, the prequel to his 1979 horror classic Alien, was targeting towards a more mainstream audience, it still ending up receiving an R-rating by the MPAA.

I think that maybe the fact he couldn’t pull off a PG-13, coupled with the dropping of Prometheus from the title, has lit that horror fire under his ass.

No longer will the Prometheus sequel be separate from Alien. Currently titled Alien: Covenant, Scott is returning to his roots in a big way with the sequel/prequel, and has plans on upping his own ante.

Screen Slam posted a full backstage video interview with Scott at the Golden Globes, where his The Martian won “Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.”

One of the reporters pointed out that fans of the horror genre are still looking for films like Alien to which Scott responded, “That’s why I’m doing it. I’m going to do pretty hard ‘R.’ Pretty tough.”

But the shocker is the reveal that he is planning something “much worse” than the famous chest-burst scene. He almost topped it with the c-section sequence in Prometheus. What could he have up his sleeve this time?!

Late last year Scott also excited us all when he said, “We’ll have them all: egg, face-hugger, chest-burster, then the big boy.” He also explained that the film will reveal a destroyed Engineer planet, and also shared plans for an expanded universe that will eventually bridge directly into his 1979 Alien.

Katherine Waterston recently landed the lead role. She will reunite with her Jobs co-star Michael Fassbender, while Scott has previously confirmed that Noomi Rapace will also return.

Shooting begins pretty soon in Australia with FOX setting it for release on October 6, 2017.
