We know a whole lot about Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant, his Prometheus sequel/Alien prequel that’s set to begin filming this April in Australia. One thing that’s now certain is that it’s got serious personality.
Danny McBride, who is gut-bustingly hilarious on HBO’s “Eastbound & Down,” is in talks to join Michael Fassbender and Katherine Waterston in the next Alien, TheWrap reports.
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
It’s going to be awesome to see how Scott plans on using McBride, who accidentally fell into stardom. Will he deliver some comic relief, or will he give us something along the lines of a dark Kenny Powers? I can’t wait to see his real range.
There’s been so much chatter behind Alien: Covenant, slated for release on October 6, 2017. Noomi Rapace, who played “Dr. Elizabeth Shaw” in Prometheus, is officially not returning to reprise her role.
Late last year Scott also excited us all when he said, “We’ll have them all: egg, face-hugger, chest-burster, then the big boy.” He also explained that the film will reveal a destroyed Engineer planet, and also shared plans for an expanded universe that will eventually bridge directly into his 1979 Alien.
