Rumor: Capcom to Reveal ‘Dead Rising 4’ At E3

Published

on

Capcom could be doubling down with their zombie showing at E3 this month, as recent rumors have hinted at the possibility that Dead Rising 4 may join Resident Evil 7 at the event. Both games are rumored to be there, though neither game’s presence has been confirmed yet. We won’t have to wait long to find out, seeing as the expo’s scheduled to kick off on June 14, after a series of pre-E3 media briefings, starting with EA on June 12 and followed by Bethesda, Microsoft, Ubisoft and Sony on June 13. Supposedly, Dead Rising 4 will be shown at Microsoft’s conference.

The rumor first gained traction when an alleged photo of the game’s poster was published on Reddit (since removed) and This Gen Gaming, along with a couple of screenshots and the nebulous promise that it’ll “make fans of the series happy.” Yeah? We’ll see about that.

I wonder, if the dead rose when Hell ran out of room for them, where are they going to go when the same thing happens to the world of the living? You better zombie-proof those pearly gates, Peter.

Legendary Grimdark ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Artist John Blanche Has Passed Away at 78

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).

Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.

While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.

The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.

Below is one of my favorite pieces by Blanche, his highly influential depiction of Warhammer 40k’s God-Emperor of Mankind on his Golden Throne.

We send our deepest condolences to John Blanche’s family, friends, and fans.
