What ‘The Purge’ Would Be Like In Canada (Video)

No Tim Hortons?!

Universal’s The Purge is a socially relevant and politically charged franchise, but it avoids being preachy and hides its declarations within the actions of the characters. Still, it’s interesting to see The Purge: Election Year released so closely to the tragic violence here in America – I was sure it would be delayed (bravo to Universal for rejecting fear).

It’s easy to comment on the Unites States, but what if The Purge actually took place in Canada, what would be different. The answer is amusing.

Below is a faux trailer for the Canadian Purge in which all Tim Hortons are closed, people attack with squirt guns and slapstick humor, and those in shelter unlock their doors to help out strangers. But there’s still trouble lurking around every corner as citizens illegally download movies, stick gum under the park bench, and light up in no smoking areas.

Ever wonder what “The Purge” would be like in Canada? For the next 12 hours, ALL crime is legal… Including texting and driving.
