The Coolest NYCC 2016 Exclusive Horror Toys

Published

on

The annual New York Comic-Con returns to NYC’s Javits Center from October 6th through the 9th, and there’s going to be a whole lot there for us horror fans to enjoy. Guests this year include Bruce Campbell, Andrew Lincoln, and even Stranger Things faves Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour, and the stars will come together for Ash vs. Evil Dead, The Exorcist, Stranger Things, and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter panels. As always, there will be so much to do and see that you probably won’t even be able to do and see it all. And that’s a good problem to have.

But we’re here to talk about the toys. Because we love toys.

Every year at NYCC, the best toy companies in the world show off upcoming collectibles and offer up special toys that are exclusive to the event, and it’s the latter that we want to shine the spotlight on here today. Here are the coolest horror toys that you will find only at the 2016 NYCC!

amok-critters

Earlier this year New York-based company Amok Time added a Critters vinyl toy to their Monstarz line, and they’re bringing a special variant to the New York Comic-Con. As you can see up above, Version 1 featured black fur, and the brand new Version 2 has a modified paint deco and is outfitted with brown fur. The brown Crite will sell at Amok Time’s booth for $25. Other exclusives from the company this year include a retro-style figure of the monster from 1958’s IT! The Terror from Beyond Space.

funko-shane

No company is bringing more exclusives to NYCC than Funko, most of which are of the POP! vinyl variety. On the horror front, the late Shane Walsh is added to The Walking Dead line of vinyl toys with this exclusive offering, and what makes this one such a must-own is that the character was never previously given a POP! toy. Fans have for years been waiting for a Shane POP!, so if you’re at NYCC this year, be sure to snatch this one up as soon as you possibly can.

super-7-jason

The independent company responsible for kick-starting Funko’s ReAction Figures line was Super 7, and they’ll be offering up three brand new ReAction toys at NYCC 2016. First up is a blood-splattered variant of the original Jason Voorhees ReAction figure, which measures 3.75″ tall and will be blister carded like the standard toys in the line.

super-7-alien

Next up from Super 7 is this badass “Biohazard Edition” ReAction Figure of the Alien Queen, which was first painted completely white and then splattered with the red stuff. The 3.75″ Queen will be packaged in a clear Weyland-Yutani biohazard bag. You can grab her for $20.

super-7-creature

And last but not least on the Super 7 front is this Creature from the Black Lagoon Re-Action Figure, which is equipped with a glow-in-the-dark feature. Funko has released so many different variants of the Universal Monsters ReAction Figures that it’s become hard to keep track, and the Gill-Man previously got glow-in-the-dark, black and white, blue glow, and green glow variants. This latest one is a bit different than the previous glow-in-the-dark offering, which was clear rather than boldly green. He’ll be available for just $10.

wolf-man-nycc-2016

Speaking of the Universal Monsters, Toy Tokyo gives The Wolf Man the glow-in-the-dark treatment for this unique POP! vinyl toy, available exclusively at their NYCC booth. The Wolf Man previously howled his way into the POP! line with standard, black and white, and flocked versions, the latter of which was a San Diego Comic-Con 2015 exclusive from Toy Tokyo.

cereal-monsters-dorbz

Also from Toy Tokyo are these two perfectly-timed tributes to the General Mills Monster Cereals, which just returned to store shelves to spread a little Halloween cheer at the grocery store. Count Chocula, Boo Berry, and Franken Berry were turned into adorable Dorbz for a NYCC 2016 exclusive three-pack, and Count Chocula gets the royal treatment with his own Dorbz Ridez vinyl collectible. As for Yummy Mummy and Fruit Brute, they were just given their own Dorbz three-pack, which was exclusive to Funko’s website.

If you’re going to be at NYCC, have fun and be sure to snatch up some of these awesome toys!

Clive Barker

We told you earlier this month that horror legend Clive Barker is leaving the convention scene behind to focus entirely on his writing, with various upcoming projects in the works.

A series of final appearances from Barker will begin at Days of the Dead Chicago this month, and we’ve learned Barker will also be coming to Monster Mania in New Jersey.

Clive Barker will be signing at Monster Mania 59 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, which runs from August 2 – August 4, 2024. Stay tuned for more info from the convention.

Barker’s official statement earlier this month explained, “… it’s time to focus entirely on writing. I’m not stopping public events because I’ve lost delight in meeting you all over the years. I’m as passionate as ever about sharing my imagination with readers and moviegoers around the world. In the very room where I’m writing these words, I have the manuscripts for a very large number of projects (Thirty-one of them), some very close to completion, others still telling themselves. There are some wild projects in this collection of works, whether close to finished or done. There are also stories that you all knew I would be finishing.”

“Abarat IV and V are amongst the books at my feet,” he continued. “So is the Third and final book of The Art and the sequel to The Thief of Always. There are also return visits to characters and mythologies you may have thought I would never return to.

“I hope I am still able to surprise you in the decades ahead.”
