‘Friday the 13th’ Fan Film ‘Never Hike Alone’ Returns to Crystal Lake; Watch New Trailer

This should tide us over until the official reboot actually happens.

We recently asked you guys over on Twitter what you’d like to see most here on Bloody Disgusting in the months and years to come, and many of you replied that you’d like for us to share more fan films. Let’s be honest here. Most fan films are crap, and totally not worth sharing, but since you’re hungry for quality ones, we promise to keep our eyes peeled and share when we find them.

Speaking of which, Never Hike Alone looks pretty damn awesome.

Directed by Vincente DiSanti, Never Hike Alone is a 22-minute Friday the 13th fan film that’s headed our way this summer, and it’s set at the infamous Camp Crystal Lake. The short follows Kyle McLeod (Andrew Leighty), an avid backcountry hiker who, while on a solo backpacking trip, discovers the long lost remains of, you guessed it, Camp Crystal Lake. Ignoring the campfire ghost stories from his childhood, Kyle’s curious nature draws him in to see what is left of the camp since it was closed after the infamous Friday the 13th murders that took place in 1980.

Of course, there’s someone else out there in the woods…

Stranded alone in the middle of the wilderness, with a legendary mass murderer on his heels, Kyle’s survival skills will be put to the test like never before. Will he make it out of the woods alive or become another victim of the cursed camp?

Never Hike Alone is almost finished, and you can check out the trailer below.

Yeah not bad at all, but is it just One guy? Lol

  • Matt

Doesn’t look too shabby at all. I’m really looking forward to seeing the completed version.

  • That’s some quality right there.

    • Vincente DiSanti

      Thanks for that!

      • You’re totally welcome! I can’t wait to see the final product. I’ll be sending some of my paycheck your way on Friday.

        • Vincente DiSanti

It is greatly appriciated. Thank you.

Wow! If that was the trailer for the Official F13 movie I would be pumped. It seriously looks like F13, done right in the 2017 time period….

  • Mark Smith

    Looks worth checking out

  • Vincente DiSanti

Vincente DiSanti here. All I can say is wow, quite surprised to see this pop up in my feed! Thanks John for promoting the film and a big shout out to DeputyWinston for plugging the kickstarter page! If anyone has any questions about the project, head on over there to find out more about what we are up to!

This is so much more promising than anything Brad Fuller is putting together!

    Jason FTW

  • Imani Hill

    This is brilliant.

Had me till I saw Jason. The guy obviously has decent equipment which isn’t cheap. Should’ve forked out a little more cash for a better Voorhees wardrobe. Other than that, looks interesting.

Long live Jason! Looks good! At first it appeared to be found footage, and I nearly vomited all over my desk.

this looks better then the remake!

  • Hot damn! That looks pretty cool. I’ve always wanted to do a doc on horror fan films. The lengths some fans will go to bring their visions to life is impressive.

  • Halloween_Vic

Wow this definitely looks awesome, and totally has a that classic F13th vibe. I can’t wait for the finished product, you can tell their working hard on this.

I remember seeing the first trailer for this last spring. I told you then and I will tell you now that this looks fantastic. It’s amazing how bad a studio can make something with a huge budget and how good something can look with a minimal budget. I guess that is why I consider The Texas Chainsaw Massacre the scariest film ever made. I wish you nothing but success and will be supporting this. Studios take note.

  • Kaijudude

How bad ass would that movie be? One guy finds crystal lake after 30 some odd years after the first massacre, and turns into a one on one cat and mouse game ? It would be a fairly short movie , but if they did it right it would be pretty damn awesome. Use the mix of first person and traditional 3rd person ala REC 3 And you have yourself a winner.

This movie NEEDS to be finished! And I am unanimous in that!!

  • This looks really good!

At least my Friday the 13th fan film (Ghostface Vs Jason) wasn’t found footage. At least i tried to make the film look retro with Jason’s scenes. My next Jason Voorhees fan film will be on Youtube in December! I resume filming next month! I respect fans making their own fan films, but when it comes to found footage stuff like this it doesn’t work. The fan films should all look retro, old film, and nostalgic with a little bit of a story. This trailer was put together very well, and the production value is amazing but it’s not Friday the 13th. I’ll give the fan film a chance though, fans work hard!

  • jonvon

    awesome!! Can’t wait

  • Judge Satchmo

I have only ever had a passing interest in the Friday the 13th movie franchise, but I’ll be damned if this doesn’t look amazing!

    • Judge Satchmo

And now, my first ever kickstarter donation. Now, I’m not saying that when you all watch it, and it’s awesome, its completely because of my donation. What I’m saying is that it’s MOSTLY because of my donation.

Wow! This looks remarkable. I think it’s a really smart choice having it be one on one. It allows for more intimacy and suspense. I CANNOT wait! Also, I’m so tired of every franchise titling subsequent films “2,3,4,etc.” so this title is really smart also. Production value is fantastic.
