Last week we exclusively shared with you in-depth details about the Aaron Guzikowksi-penned Friday the 13th: Part 13 that Paramount and Platinum Dunes we’re set to begin filming next month; as you know by now, they pulled the plug at the final hour. Before Guzikowski was brought in, Nick Antosca (“Hannibal”) was hired to write a script… and you can now read it!
Antosca himself just tweeted out a link to download his Friday the 13th 3D script, noting that it was a “dream horror project that almost got made.” The script, which Antosca wrote two years ago, was pretty much exactly what most Friday the 13th fans are currently craving. Rather than delving into backstory, it was to be a straight up, brutal-as-fuck, ’80s-set slasher flick.
And it even teased the Winter-set sequel we all desire!
Last year, Brad wrote up an in-depth analysis of the Antosca script, and he had nothing but praise for the “Channel Zero” creator’s brutal vision for the franchise. Brad wrote:
I’m not exaggerating when I say that Antosca’s Friday the 13th 3D could have ended up being the best Friday in the franchise. His writing style is one of the most immersive voices I’ve ever come across, and the settings were both iconic and unsettling. It was also impressive how he avoided winking to the audience, although it’s pretty obvious how much of a fickle bitch it was trying to make sense of Jason’s messy mythology.
It truly would have been Friday the 13th meets Dazed and Confused.
