“Scream Queens” Star Billie Lourd Joins “American Horror Story”

Meanwhile, still no word on the future of “Scream Queens.”

Deadline is reporting tonight that Billie Lourd, star of “Scream Queens” and daughter of the late Carrie Fisher, has just been cast alongside Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, and the recently announced Billy Eichner in Season 7 of FX’s “American Horror Story.Character details are being kept under wraps, but the site notes she’s come aboard as a lead.

Eichner will reportedly be playing a close confidant of Paulson’s character.

All we really know so far about the season is that it will be set in the wake of last year’s presidential election, which the entire season will draw some level of inspiration from.

The seventh season of “American Horror Story” is filming this summer for premiere in the fall.

Great news! I adore Billie. She was excellent in Scream Queens!

  • Khy

She was great in Scream Queens. I take this as confirmation Scream Queens won’t be back for Season 3. The ratings for Season 2 was horrendous. I still think that show should’ve been a Netflix show- it was very binge-worthy- not something you want to watch once a week and definitely not something you’d brave two-three week hiatuses for every two or so episodes. R.I.P. Scream Queens but we knew the end was coming.

Still not excited for this season of AHS but Billie is a GREAT incentive.

    • Biscoito18

I hated SQ season 2 so much I couldn’t finish it.

      • Khy

Me either. I got to about episode 3 and bailed- they started doing these annoying two week breaks and the show seemed like it had declined greatly. The humor went from being clever and biting to cartoony and stupid. Basically it suffered the usual Ryan Murphy curse of delivering solid first seasons and then nosediving soon after. I wish they would’ve just killed everyone off at the very end and left it as a 1 season show.

I can see myself rewatching season 1 in the future. I will never finish season 2. Especially after how I hear it ended- yuck

        • J Jett

Khy, word for word i agree w/ you.

      • J Jett

Biscoito18, i agree 100000%. season 2 of SQ was atrocious. god awful.

    • Graham

That’s very true. I barely got through season 1 for that reason, as the longer I had to wait between episode, the more time I had to realize that it was actually a pretty bad show. I totally enjoyed it in the moment, but like you said, it would be better as a binge without having to wait between episodes. I missed the first episode of season 2 and ended up just skipping the whole season.

      • Khy

For season 1 I think I let the last 6 or so episodes build up and then I just watched them all in an evening. It works like that. I think most of these slasher shows are good ideas BUT they don’t work as weekly shows. Hell, back when Harper’s Island was airing back in ’09 I even fell off from watching that and that was billed as a limited series(AND it was GOOD). I didn’t finish it until years later when it drifted over to Netflix and I could binge it.

I could see Scream Queens being the huge hit they wanted if they launched all 15 episodes on Netflix in October. That would have been Godly. I knew Scream Queens was doomed the moment I heard it would be on Fox.

        • J Jett

god i freaking loved HARPER’S ISLAND. i admit i cried (actual tears! LOL) at C & C’s (i’m trying not to overtly spoil it for anyone who may have not seen it) deaths.

          • Pete

Omg I cried as well lol, definitely the most memorable episode.

          • J Jett

Pete, right? totally balled my eyes out in that ep. 🙁

      • J Jett

Graham, regarding season 2 of SQ, you didn’t miss anything. i enjoyed season 1 (a guilty pleasure type of gig) but season 2 was shockingly terrible (not including both fantastic Abigail Breslin and Billie Lourd, who were the saving graces/best things about season 2).

        • Justin McGill

They wasted her in the end.. But Kirsty Alley was a great addition.. and I can not believe I am saying this but Lea Michelle, Stamos and even Taylor Lautner were kind of fun.. sadly the one great thing I loved from season 1 Chanel #1 being the queen bee MEGA atomic bitch felt defanged in season 2.

          • J Jett

Justin, i agree that Kirsty was a great addition.

  • Vesuvian Villain

I can’t deal with AHS. I tried the circus shit, turned into a musical, hate musicals. Tried the Hotel, couldn’t find myself giving a shit about Lady Gaga. Tried the first season, got bored. Every time it always seems awesome visually but the actual story is just like…… what? How would any of this make sense? Is it supposed to be dreamlike and surreal? Is that the point? What the fuck is happening? Ahhh who fuckin cares..

That’s me watching American Horror Story after every second or third episode.

    • Khy

AHS has always been style over substance and it has only gotten worse HOWEVER- Did you try Asylum? That season had so much crazy shit tossed into a blender(demon possessed nuns, aliens, serial killer, Anne Frank) yet they somehow crafted a wonderful tale and for me it is the best of them all because everything (weirdly) came together so beautifully. It was truly amazing how they did that- especially coming from Ryan Murphy.

First two seasons you gotta stick out and not bail after two episodes. However seasons 3-6 you’re encouraged to bail because the conclusions are shit. I only like season 6 because it was a senseless gorefest.

      • Vesuvian Villain

Thanks for the advice, I’ll give Asylum a shot and work my way backward.

        • Khy

Definitely. You’ll totally go “WTF” am I watching during Asylum but I’m sure after its over you’ll realize just how well it was done.

        • J Jett

yeah, Vesuvian, even though i completely love season 1 (so much!) and haven’t found any other season of this show to be anywhere near as good OR anywhere near as consistent (writing-wise), you should check out “Asylum”/season 2. it seems to be the most liked/discussed season yet.

a big problem i had with season 2 is that Ryan Murphy & Co. were (no hyperbole) just throwing ANY and EVERY possible horror genre against the wall to see what would stick…and then (staying true to crappy Ryan Murphy & Co. writing) just leaves many of those bizarre things in the show (aliens, weird creature experiments roaming near the asylum, Angel of Death, the devil, killer Santa, etc. etc. etc.) hanging/unfinished.

    • J Jett

i hate musicals too and i agree that Freak Show was pretty bad but i thank it/Murphy & Co. for introducing me to the AWESOME song “Gods & Monsters” (and to Lana Del Rey who i had never heard of before).

      • Vesuvian Villain

Lana’s pretty solid, people give her a lot of shit for her live performances and her plastic surgery but her music style is solid. Every song I’ve ever heard from her is raw, dark sexuality. I love that kind of Portishead vibe. Totally fits AHS. Also I love the intro theme song to AHS, I’ve listened to it on repeat. I found it pleasantly similar to the intro song in the movie Seven. Then I found out the same people worked on it. I love weird, dark atmospheric music.

        • J Jett

i guess the fact i literally had never even heard of Lana before that episode of Freak Show shows how old/out of touch i am with music these days. LOL. the second i heard Jessica Lange singing Gods & Monsters, i paused the ep. and ran over to the computer and searched out the song/Lana!

i can’t defend her embarrassingly bad performance on Saturday Night Live but at least she wasn’t lip synching like Ashley Simpson did way back when (on the same show). lol.

  • Mavis Zene

Was hoping there’d be a season 3 of scream queens.. Has it been cancelled?

    • J Jett

i was just wondering about this as well. i very much liked season 1 but found season 2 to be pretty lousy (not completely) but i’d be up for a 3rd season.

      • Agree. I think it started strong and just slowly petered out towards a limp finale….much like a lot of Murphy productions (although Feud has been great so far). I feel I say this every season with AHS, but fingers crossed they plan out the entire duration carefully before jumping into production this go round.

    • Khy

Won’t know officially until next month when the networks reveal their fall line-ups but chances of SQ being renewed are at an all time low. Season 1 survived because the delayed viewing numbers were quite huge but I heard this season’s delayed viewings were just as horrible as the broadcast ratings.

  • J Jett

even though this upcoming season of AHS sound god awful (i’m burned out of anything political related) i do adore Billie Lourd. i hope she has a good/decent role in this new season.

    • I consider myself a friend to you on here, so I hope this isnt offensive to ask. May I ask why the political take turns you off? Is it a bit much or is Ryan Murphy just really bad at writing nowadays? Or at worst, youre a trump supporter?!

      • J Jett

        Honey Pie, no worries. 🙂
i was no Clinton fan but i detest Trump. everything he and his scummy people around him do raises my blood pressure tenfold. i’m just tired of politics in general (although i never miss watching my Rachel Maddow!). 🙂

      • Khy

Haha Honey Pie, Ryan is always a bit much. I think its a combination of both. An election based season, at least to me, just seems exhausting because it doesn’t seem like it will be a minor element or small side story but the entire season and I guess you can say we’re already living an American Horror Story we don’t need Ryan harping on it lol. I’ll remain open minded though because while Roanoke was a mess, it was at least good gory fun with a high body count. AHS’s days of quality writing are long over.

  • J Jett

thanx man! i definitely enjoy discussing things with you too and you pretty much always make me laugh. you have a really hilarious sense of humor! and i will take you up on your permission for me to be lazy. “V” it is! i spent years on IMDB’s message boards (not years without a break though. LOL) and while most people would not start out their comments with the name of the person they were speaking/replying to, i always did (how would someone know who is talking to who?) but on this type of comment forum at least it’s clearly said who is responding to who. 🙂

    • Vesuvian Villain

It’s cool even if the names are there, it’s a nice gesture sometimes to use the name regardless. People need to be nicer to each other these days anyway. I’m real good at being an asshole but that kind of shit gets boring after awhile. Rather talk to some cool, relaxed mother fuckers. And if you don’t fuck mothers, that’s okay too, cool and relaxed will suffice.

      • J Jett

        LOL! agreed! 🙂

  • Halloween_Vic

Dammm can we get a season 3 of Scream Queens instead? American Horror Story just isn’t “horror”. It’s fucking stupid and seems like they don’t know what the hell to do with it anymore.

    • DarkBree

If we get another season of Scream Queens, it will definitely be a reboot. Both Keke and Lea are not coming back, Emma is brunete again for a movie, Billie will be in AHS and I think Abigail is making a movie.

  • Paulo Victor Mascarenhas

Scream Queens is pretty much dead, all of the lead actors are moving on to different projects, and if there were any plans for a new season we would have heard something by now, I believe. I loved the show, even though season two ended up being somewhat disappointing.
Billie was definetly a highlight on SQ, and she seems like a realy cool person, can’t wait to see what she will do in AHS.

  • J Jett

LOL! i forgot about Ashley’s hoe down jig! and i’m glad you at least have a good soundtrack to play while you murder things! LOL.
recently i’ve have Drive’s “Nightcall” and “A Real Hero” on non-stop play. 🙂

  • Ginchy

It didn’t help that with this season of Scream Queens I never knew if it was gonna be on or not. I think after the first two episodes, they took a few weeks off for some reason. Then they showed an episode or two and it was off the air for the world series. I agree with the person that said it should’ve been on Netflix. I didn’t enjoy the second season quite as much as the first, but the jokes still landed and it still had the same campiness. I hope Billie gets a good part. Freak Show wasn’t as bad the second time I watched it. I can’t get through Hotel though. I liked Roanoke a lot, they kept the episodes around 45 minutes instead of stretching them out to an hour or more like they did in Freak Show and Hotel. It helped with the pacing and tension. Murphy’s Feud is killing it this season.

  • DAWnofthedead 91

I guess I’m one of the only ones somewhat sceptical about this casting for AHS, although I’m also seeing Billy Eichner’s name and just feeling less psyched. She’s cute and great for the deadpan character Chanel she got, but that’s all we know of her. To me, it’s almost on par with bringing Roberts back into the mix, and she was the low point of her respective series.

  • FromTheAshes21

Scream Queens had such a terrible place on the schedule. They chose not to air it through Halloween (what were they thinking?), then aired it sporadically into December, with the remaining episodes barely even advertised. Billie was one of my favorites from the show, so I am glad we will see her on American Horror Story! Now if they can also get Kirstie Alley onto AHS, that could be killer!
