This Halloween’s lucky number 13th season of “American Horror Story” is being advertised as an all-star reunion special, with creator Ryan Murphy revealing that “AHS 13” will operate as a sequel to all previous seasons of the show. It’s the Avengers: Endgame of the “AHS” universe, you could say, which begs the question: will Season 13 be the show’s final season?
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter this week, Ryan Murphy provides an answer to that question. The good news for “AHS” fans? Season 13 is not planned as an ending.
Ryan Murphy explains to The Hollywood Reporter, “I have a great passion for that show, and [FX boss] John Landgraf has a great passion for that show. It’s a very important show in my career. It’s something that John said, ‘As long as you want to keep making them, I’ll keep airing them.’ That’s always been the idea behind it, which is very empowering.”
“Season 13 is not the end,” he adds. “I’m working on Season 14 as we speak in terms of, ‘What’s the idea?’ and ‘Who wants to be in it?'”
But first up, “American Horror Story” Season 13 premieres September 24 on FX and Hulu. The season’s returning players include Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Jessica Lange, and Billie Lourd, each playing multiple characters from the show’s past.
FX promises “an unrivaled 13th installment that will do justice to everyone’s most feared number.”
Bringing together an all-star cast, many of whom are reprising fan-favorite roles, American Horror Story 13 continues to build on the anthology’s decades-long legacy that has been streamed more than 700 million hours across the globe and spawned a legion of dedicated fans.
Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, John Carroll Lynch, and Frances Conroy also star. Newcomers include Mena Suvari, Berto Colon, and John Waters.
