The Conjuring universe… now with double the Farmiga!
Shooting is set to begin soon on director Corin Hardy’s The Nun, a spinoff film centered on the creepy character we first met in last year’s The Conjuring 2. As we recently learned, Demián Bichir (Alien: Covenant) was the first to join the cast, and Deadline is reporting today that Taissa Farmiga (“American Horror Story,” The Final Girls) is now also on board.
Farmiga, the sister of The Conjuring star Vera Farmiga, will play the young nun. Bechir plays a priest named Father Burke, dispatched by Rome to investigate a mysterious death of a nun.
Scripted by Gary Dauberman and James Wan, and produced by Wan and Peter Safran, the film gives front-and-center treatment to the demonic nun who menaced Vera Farmiga’s character throughout The Conjuring 2. Dauberman and Todd Williams are exec producers.
New Line will release The Nun in theaters on Friday, July 13, 2018. It will be the fifth film in the franchise and will follow this summer’s August 11th release of Annabelle 2.
