Gillian Anderson Getting Hollywood Walk of Fame Star in 2018

Well it’s about damn time!

No list of horror/fantasy/sci-fi heroines can possibly be complete without Dana Scully, the yin to Fox Mulder’s yang on “The X-Files.” The iconic small screen character was of course played by Gillian Anderson, who we’re happy to report will finally be getting a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2018!

Anderson, who also played a memorable role on NBC’s gone-too-soon “Hannibal,” was announced by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce tonight as one of 34 actors and recording artists who will be celebrated and immortalized during the 2018 ceremony.

Fellow “X-Files” star David Duchovny was just given his own star last year.

Other stars being cemented on the most famous sidewalk in the world next year include “American Horror Story” creator Ryan Murphy, Jeff Goldblum, Jack Black, Kirsten Dunst, Mark Hamill, Jennifer Lawrence, Nick Nolte, Zoe Saldana, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Snoop Dogg, and the late Bernie Mac.

Gillian is an amazing actress and i’m thrilled she’s getting the recognition she’s long deserved….but aren’t the walk of fame stars something any celebrity can buy or something? i know it’s not that easy/cut and dry but i could have sworn it’s close. i’m not trying to diminish this with Gillian (again, she’s awesome!) but if David Duchovny can get a star and he gets it a year before she gets hers….Duchovny is one of the worst actors i’ve ever seen ever. his “crying” scenes in X-FILES episodes are both hilarious and cringe-inducing. 🙂

but anywho…CONGRATS TO GILLIAN! YOU RULE! 🙂

lol poor Duchovny. He isn’t all that bad, is he? I agree with you that his emotional scenes in the x files were sometimes cringe worthy. Gillian, though far less experienced, acted circles around Duchovny in the x files. He is no Marlon Brando… but “one of the worst actors you’ve ever seen ever.” Really? I don’t think he has much of a range. I think he would even concede that. But he’s really, really good at playing a certain type of character. And he’s charming & sexy as F. Those are important qualities when it comes to stardom too, let’s face it. I sure as hell am glad he was Mulder. It’s obvious that show wouldn’t have lasted a single season on air if Anyone other than Duchovny was Mulder, or if anyone other than Gillian was Scully.

    • It’s not that difficult, usually are the fans that apply in order to have a star for their celebrity.

The stars are a joke. They are bought and paid for by either the actor or the fans, and then the actor has to pay for the upkeep of the star.

I was curious so I looked it up.

The celebrity’s management, a studio or any third party (fan club, family) must nominate the person and if they are selected pay $30,000-$40,000 to make the star and pay for the ceremony (security etc.). The rest goes into a trust of some sort that provides upkeep for the Walk. There are around 200 nominations a year and only 25 are selected.
Before the nomination is considered, the celebrity has to provide a written statement confirming they want one and they will attend the ceremony.
Clint Eastwood has turned down nominations and Carrie Fisher was never even nominated. WHAT?!

Honestly Gillian is one of the greatest actors alive today. She’s one of the most talented actors of our generation. I don’t believe there is any role she couldn’t do. After the x files she didn’t have this greedy, narcissistic, blind ambition to become a big hollywood star, which is why she moved to London, & I greatly admire and respect that. However, despite her residing in London, she’s finally been getting recognized for her massive talent lately… and I am here for it.
