LEGO recently tasked fans with building their own nostalgic tributes to the 1990s as part of the Build Your Nostalgia – 90s Throwback challenge, with the winning build being turned into an official LEGO Ideas set in the future. The winner of the challenge? A set based on “The X-Files,” and the official set is now being released by LEGO later this Summer!
The LEGO Ideas “The X-Files” set recreates iconic moments from the series, centered on a detailed build of Fox Mulder’s office, paired with a forest clearing scene and a hovering UFO.
The 1,478-piece “X-Files” LEGO set includes 8 minifigures, featuring Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, Walter Skinner, Mr. X, Alex Krycek, Carl Busch, The Flukeman and a grey alien.
The LEGO “X-Files” set ($199.99) will be available to all on August 4, 2026.
LEGO Insiders get Early Access on August 1, 2026.
To mark the reveal, Gillian Anderson stars in a cinematic mini-film tribute to the beloved series. With a nod to FBI Special Agent Dana Scully, Anderson is drawn into an investigation that gradually leads her to uncover the LEGO set itself, piece by piece – bringing the world of “The X-Files” into brick-built form for the fans. Check out the LEGO reveal video below!
“Seeing myself in minifigure form is both surreal and oddly delightful – there’s something very charming about being miniaturised,” Gillian Anderson said in a statement. “The whole set is a brilliant celebration of The X-Files which I hope fans enjoy revisiting in this way – I know I can’t wait to put tiny Scully on my shelf.”
The LEGO Ideas build was originally built and submitted by fan Brent Waller.
“I was obsessed with X-Files from the moment I saw it in the ’90s. I originally built Mulder’s office back in 2014 while rewatching the series, and it grew from there as a personal project,” Waller said. “I wanted to combine nostalgia, detail and storytelling to capture the atmosphere of the show – from Mulder’s office to the forest and UFO encounter. I’m thrilled to see it become an official set and hope it resonates with both long-time fans and new audiences.”
