Pennsylvania Police Department Having Fun With Viral ‘IT’ Promotion

“Don’t worry everyone, we’ll have the person or “thing” responsible in custody in no time.”

No matter where you look, you just can’t escape promotion for Andy Muschietti’s IT, arriving in theaters this weekend. Not only are TV spots playing regularly on the small screen and billboards popping up all over, but creepy red balloons have even been appearing everywhere from Stephen King’s home to the streets of Sydney, Australia.

Now, “Pennywise” is stalking the community of Lititz Borough, Pennsylvania!

It seems a local prankster has been tying red balloons to sewer grates in the area, and the Lititz Borough Police Department has been humorously responding.

The department wrote on their Facebook page yesterday…

“A certain movie is coming to theaters in two days, and a local prankster took it upon themselves to promote the movie. We give points for creativity, however we want the local prankster to know that we were completely terrified as we removed these balloons from the grates and we respectfully request they do not do that again. If you’re not sure what we’re talking about, search “IT” and watch the preview… but we suggest watching the preview with a friend or coworker with all the lights on and the sound down low.”

They continued the fun in a subsequent Facebook post, found below.

We’re not sure we’ve EVER seen a horror movie get this much mainstream love!
