Freddy Krueger Headed to ‘Dead By Daylight’!

First The Shape stalked the streets. Then Leatherface. Now Starbreeze Studios wants you to get ready for Freddy.

That’s right, in a new trailer, the developers hint that the Springwood Slasher himself, Freddy Krueger, is the latest addition to Dead By Daylight. While the trailer itself is only 23 seconds long, it’s undeniable who it is that Starbreeze is teasing. Of course, there’s also no date as to when Freddy would be added, or what powers he’d have in the game, but that’s all part of the fun. Plus, you know, that thing called Halloween is just around the corner…

Who knows what other icons Starbreeze will be able to snag next?

Dead by Daylight is available now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

I am guessing in the next couple weeks he will be released, Seems perfect for Halloween time.

Has anyone been playing this? My fear is that like Friday the 13th this game will just be super repetitive.

    • King Jordyn

Yes its very repetitive like F13. Its actually pretty much just like F13 with less better graphics but easier controls. I like it honestly. F13 is hard to control to me. Maybe because I need to play it more.

      • Kristoffer Groves

U need 2 git gud. F13 is the better game.

    • Sam

It’s my fav. There’s just too many perks, maps, killers, addons, etc for it to become boring. While the overall mechanic is the same, it’s addictive as hell.

I love it. I wanted to love F13, but each game felt and played the same way whether I was Jason or a counselor. With DBD each killer plays differently and, as a survivor, you have to change your strategy depending on what killer you’re up against. And the perks can really be game changing for either side, unlike F13 where I don’t really notice a difference no matter what perks I use. I just feel it’s a more intense, yet streamlined experience and am really excited to see what Freddy and the new survivor bring to the game.

I have logged about 60+ hours on Xbox One. The gameplay, mechanics of the game are repetitive but like others have said, depending on which killer you are up against your strategy on how you play will change. I personally like this game better than Friday the 13th.

It’s one of my favorite games. Not perfect by any means, it can be glitchy on PS4 where I play, but the mechanics are good and it’s well balanced. It’s not a non stop action game, but it’s really intense.

One thing I think is important to mention is that when you die in Dead By Daylight, you can move on to another game immediately and keep your points. You don’t have to wait for everybody to die/escape. That’s the one thing I don’t like about Friday the 13th, spectating for 10-15 minutes before being able to play again.

I don’t know what the numbers are on Xbox or PlayStation but on PC Dead By Daylight currently has 11,912 people on compared to F13 which has 1,121 people on it. They both get repetitive but F13 gets way more boring way faster. DBD is better in my opinion.

  • DaddyKo

Started off playing Friday the 13th and bought Dead by Daylight because of it. Didn’t care for DBD at first but after abit I ran out of stuff to do on F13 and revisited this am loving it but I still don’t really get the rankings and a lot of the stuff. I return to Crystal Lake whenever they add new stuff tho.

  • EvilHead1981

Better be old school “pizza face” Freddy, not remake “burnt alien cat” Freddy.

  • I knew it!

  • Cali-Chainsaw

So many things are tempting me to play this game it just looks so limited compared to F13 the game

  • Kristoffer Groves

Doesn’t matter. DBD still isn’t half as good as Friday the 13th, and it never will be. I played two games of DBD when it was free for a weekend, and i promptly deleted it.

    • Jason Gilliss

Then your missing out had friday the 13th since launch tried to play it the other night again after the new map came out and couldn’t even finish a match imo it has nothing on DBD.Time to go play dbd 🙂

      • Kristoffer Groves

It’s kind of like sex. F13 is like picking up hot chicks at the bar. You will be unable to make it happen a lot of the time, but when you do succeed, it is glorious. DBD is like taking care of your own “needs.” It gets the job done, and you can do it any time you want without any hassle, but it will never be as enjoyable as making sweet love to Tiffany Cox.

  • Mamet006

Gimme third person on the killers and I’ll buy.

    • Jason Fgt Levy

are you serious? Ruins the entire point of the game. How idiotic to say this.

      • Mamet006

How would it ruin the entire point of the game?

  • Flu-Like Symptoms

Proof that getting these characters into an awesome mash-up is highly do-able. If Starbreeze can afford the licensing, any studio could do it. Looking at you, Ed Boon.

  • Collin

As soon as i get a better computer om getting this game because the chance to play as Michael Freddy and leatherface just sounds great. And I’m not even that big a fan of Halloween or nightmare (but Texas chainsaw is one of my all time favorite movies).

    • Delaney Orange Cup

Be warned, people on the game, especially survivors are toxic assholes

  • Erik Wallrabenstein

Boy can’t wait to watch Freddy put people on hooks instead of killing them creatively like in the movies oh boy!
