In an interesting turn of events, Outlast 2 devs Red Barrels have seemingly quashed one hope for fans, but have given them much more.
In a lengthy Facebook post, the team talks about how fans have been requesting DLC for Outlast 2. Unfortunately, that’s not in the cards, despite The Murkoff Account postings. “While the first Outlast was made with the idea of a DLC in mind, that was not the case for Outlast 2. We’ve considered many options, but none of them felt appropriate for a DLC. Outlast 2 was created to make you feel like a rat in a maze, without any knowledge of what’s outside the maze.”
The big news, however, comes right after that, with the devs stating that they intend to make Outlast 3 “at some point”, and that “answers will be given”. In the meamtime, however, those who haven’t can still read The Murkoff Account’s epilogue.
The other big news comes in the form of a something the team is working on that “won’t be a sequel to Outlast or Outlast 2, but it will be a distinct experience set in the Outlast universe.” What that is, the team won’t say until they’re sure that they can “make it work”.
Lastly, since everyone and their grandma are coming to the Nintendo Swith, the post concludes with news that both Outlast games are headed to the console in the first quarter of 2018. They even have a handy photo for those who need the visual confirmation. With all of these ports coming down the pipe (not to mention the first-party games), it’s making me really want to get a Switch…
