The Incredible ‘All The Boys Love Mandy Lane’ Finally Getting A North American Release!!!

Nice! I guess the fact that director Jonathan Levine’s Warm Bodies is nearing a $100M global take doesn’t hurt things, but All The Boys Love Mandy Lane (read our review) is a damn good movie on its own and is finally going to be legit available to all of our North American readers. That’s right, almost seven years after The Weinstein Company bought the film (and insanely shelved it) it’s finally coming out.

In an interesting turn of events, Radius-TWC has wrangled up the rights. The “TWC” there stands for the “The Weinstein Company.” Years after they decided they didn’t know what to do with the film and sold it to Senator Entertainment (who subsequently went bankrupt) they’ve sort of bought it again! See what Levine and produce Keith Calder had to say about the turn of events inside.

The film, starring the absolutely gorgeous Amber Heard, “is about a group of high-schoolers who invite Mandy Lane, “a good girl” who becomes the object of everyone’s affection after returning from summer break, to a weekend party on a secluded ranch. While the festivities rage on, the number of revelers begins to mysteriously drop one at a time.

Due out this summer, Mandy Lane will be released theatrically at least in the top 50 markets and simultaneously be released on VOD. READ MORE

MTV talked to Rodriguez about the sequel, explaining why Lindsay Lohan didn’t return as the gun-toting April, “We thought to bring her back because we like that character, but it didn’t fit into the story.” He also talks about the next film, Machete Kills Again in Space, “[W]e’ll have to see what happens in this one. [Video Interview] Danny Trejo Talks Babes, Bullets, Blood And Blades In ‘Death Race 3: Inferno’ And His Love Scene With Amber Heard In ‘Machete Kills’

Death Race 3: Inferno comes to Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and On Demand tomorrow, January 22, 2013, from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. To that end, I recently sat down with star Danny Trejo to talk about his role in the film. We touch on a variety of subjects, such as the “Four B’s” referenced in the headline and why he couldn’t stop saying “Thank You Jesus” while filming the upcoming Machete Kills.

Repentant convict Carl Lucas (Luke Goss) — aka Frankenstein— is a legendary driver in the brutal prison blood sport known as Death Race. Only one victory away from winning freedom, Lucas is plunged into his most vicious competition yet: the first ever Desert Death Race. Through South Africa’s infernal Kalahari Desert, Lucas is pitted against ruthless adversaries and powerful forces at work behind the scenes to ensure his defeat. Also, starring Danny Trejo and Ving Rhames, Death Race 3: Inferno is an insane, action packed thrill-ride.”

Inspired by Roger Corman’s cult classic Death Race 2000, the film is directed by Roel Reiné (Death Race 2, Scorpion King 3) and produced by Paul W.S. Anderson and Jeremy Bolt, as well as Mike Elliott (Death Race 2, The Eye). The film stars Luke Goss (Death Race 2, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, Blade 2), Danny Trejo (Death Race 2, Machete, “Sons of Anarchy”), Ving Rhames (Death Race 2, Mission: Impossible franchise, Pulp Fiction), Dougray Scott (Mission: Impossible II, “Heist”), Tanit Phoenix (Death Race 2, “Femme Fatales”), Fred Koehler (Death Race 1 & 2, “Lost”) and Robin Shou (Death Race 1 & 2, Mortal Kombat).

Alexa Vega – Or Whomever’s Body This Is – Gets Risque In ‘Machete Kills’!

In addition to Danny Trejo the film stars Lady Gaga, Vanessa Hudgens, Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Mel Gibson, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Amber Heard, Sofia Vergara, Zoe Saldana, William Sadler, Edward James Olmos, Charlie Sheen, Elise Avellan and Electra Avellan. The pic originally comes from Rolling Stone (via Collider).

The sequel finds the titular ex-federale (Trejo) recruited by the U.S. government to stop a terrorist named Mendez the Madman, who happens to be Mexico’s leading cartel dealer. Jackson will play the man who is being tortured by the hero (Josh Brolin) in a key revenge scene. Fans of the original will remember the scene as perhaps the most visceral and disturbing of the film. Protagonist Dae-su Oh exacts vengeance on a man who once guarded him by extracting his teeth one-by-one with the claw end of a hammer. The new film, which begins shooting this fall in Louisiana and New York, won’t go with the tooth removal, instead inflicting a different kind of torture, says the mag.

The duo star alongside Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley in the Spike Lee-directed thriller. Charlie Sheen Cast As The U.S. President In ‘Machete Kills’!!!

Wow. Half of me feels like this is a crass, TMZ style approach to casting – and the other half of me can’t wait to see this movie (even though I didn’t like the first one). Charlie Sheen (Wall Street, Platoon “Two And A Half Men”) has been cast as the U.S. President in Machete Kills, the sequel to Robert Rodriguez’ Machete. Earlier today he admitted that his meltdown last year was brought on by a psychotic break, so you have to wonder if him diving into this role along with his new series “Anger Management” is a good idea for him personally. Either way, between him and Mel Gibson Machete Kills is certainly making some brave casting choices.

Rodriguez took to his Twitter account just moments ago saying, “I just cast Charlie Sheen in ‪#machetekills‬ as the President of the United States! Who better? More soon…

Amber Heard Amber Heard Could Be Known As Subject 6

Bloody Disgusting is exclusively being tipped off that Amber Heard – the genre hottie from All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, The Stepfather, Zombieland and The Ward – has been offered the lead role in Vital Pictures’ indie thriller Subject 6.

James Seda is directing from his own screenplay where Heard would play the title character who’s part of a government experiment. “Sealed in an isolation room under constant surveillance, a psychology student, believing she’s a paid participant in a month-long behavioral study, starts to believe she’s actually a prisoner who must escape before she loses her mind.

The film is described as in the vein of The Matrix, Dark City, and the cult-classic Cube.

[Blu-ray Review] ‘The Ward’

In a few recent interviews, John Carpenter has all but admitted his disdain for working on films. Although he’s kept up to date with the genre, he seems to have lost his zeal for the creativity that once defined his oeuvre. Scoring? Too much work. Writing? Too much work. By choice, it’s been almost ten years since his last feature – even longer since his last GOOD one – and after attaching himself to as many projects as del Toro, he returns to the cinesphere with The Ward, which proves that he also thinks directing is too much work.
