“Been a long time, were out of the studio, done recording, beat the shit out of ourselves to make sure our second record is better then our first,” said J-Dog. “Was hard but we finally finished it and are ready to release our first song, Da Kurlzz cried when we finished it harder then he did when he lost his virginity on leave from the navy on a beach in Germany. The song is called ‘Hear Me Now.’ One of my favorite songs we’ve ever written.” READ MORE
I didn’t really run into many albums, or even songs for that matter, that I TRULY hated this year. Then again, I didn’t really put myself in a position to have to face much of that. Rather, this list of ‘Worst of 2010′ is going to reflect upon several situations that arose this past year which shocked and affected me. Read for on my ‘Worst of 2010′.
I’ve been a Dream Theater fan since 1999. Yeah, that’s late in the Dream Theater game but still early enough to catch some amazing albums and definitely enough times to see them in concert. Hell, I flew out to New York to see the Score performance. Can I see myself in the DVD? Hell no! I’m way in the nosebleeds! But I was there. Their music helped me through some of the toughest times in my life and also inspired me as a musician and as a songwriter. So to hear that Mike Portnoy, the original drummer, the voice of the band, the creator, has decided to quit has really shaken me and left me somewhat speechless. After the jump is the written explanation from Mike himself about his decision to quite Dream Theater. This was not the news I was expecting to see or ever read, but I can understand where he is coming from once I read through his statement.
Recently in Israel, I was able to go and check out the Summer Carnage Festival at Barby in Tel Aviv, Israel. Headlined by Aborted, Whorecore and System Divide, the festival was a full day event with over a thousand people squeezed into a tiny club. While there, I got the opportunity to interview Missing In Action, the band that represented Israel at the Wacken Open Air Metal Battle. Check out the interview after the jump!

Avenged Sevenfold recently released the video for their first single which is the title track off the new album, Nightmare, which hits shelves next Tuesday. The video takes place in a “haunted” old hospital and seems to have several horror homages in place, including the scene where Jacob is pulled through hell on a stretcher from Jacob’s Ladder. We scored some behind the scenes photos from the video shoot, it’s definitly a creepy place and the perfect setting for A7X’s new video. Let me know if you see any orbs or figures staring at you through windows… read on for the pics.
