Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance 3D - 19

Will Marvel’s ‘Blade’ or ‘Ghost Rider’ Return?

It’s sort of a shame to see the Blade franchise whimper away like it did. It’s even more of a disappointment that both Ghost Rider films were terrible. Marvel hopes to bring both characters back in the near future; could the success of their newly minted franchises help them get it right? I’d think so…

In a massive article in EW, Marvel chief Kevin Feige stated that both Blade and Ghost Rider could eventually return to action.

Whenever a character comes back to us, it’s usually because because the other studios don’t want to make the movies anymore — and that usually means the [previous] movies have not been well-received,” Feige tells the magazine. “They all have potential, but we’re not going to say, ‘We got it back — make it!’

Which character would you prefer to see back first? I’m going to guess Blade? Holy crap the first two movies are still amazingREAD MORE

Animated “Blade” Star Would Love To Be Made Flesh For Live-Action Reboot

HaroldBlade11912 Animated Blade Star Would Love To Be Made Flesh For Live Action Reboot

If the time ever comes for a live action reboot of Blade, we know at least one guy who would toss his hat in the ring.

Harold Perrineau (“Lost”, The Matrix), star of G4′s animated “Blade” series spoke recently about his desire to inhabit the role in a larger way.

Speaking to the LA Times he said, “I actually went back and watched the movies when I got the job. I wanted to make sure that my Blade was more similar to his than not. And one of the things I was looking for was how much swagger he has. Wesley played this really fine line between having swagger and the cool lines, with just playing it straight with emotion. It was cool to watch. He wasn’t always swaggerific — if that’s a word.

He then goes on to say, “You know what … I would shave my head and get into the gym tomorrow if they said that I could play Blade. I’d be in the gym pumping iron, doing kung fu… I would love to play Blade live-action. I think the character is ridiculously cool. I’m never going to be as cool as Wesley Snipes was, but I’d give it a shot.

[News Bites]: Cameron Brainstorms ‘Terminator 5,’ King’s Latest Optioned, Snipes on ‘Blade’s Return & More

“The Silence of the Lambs” helmer Jonathan Demme has optioned feature film rights to Stephen King’s upcoming novel “11/22/63″ and is set to write, direct and produce, Variety reports. The book follows Jake Epping, a 35-year-old high school English teacher from Maine who travels back in time to try and prevent President John F. Kennedy’s assassination in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963. It’s unclear how this is remotely horror, but other sites are reporting on it. Figured we might as well squeeze it in this edition of News Bites.

In prison for tax evasion, Blade star Wesley Snipes chatted with IGN about a possible return to the vampire franchise that’s already spawned two sequels, a TV and cartoon series. “It would be nice to fulfill some of the really cool plans we had for ‘Blade’ but didn’t get the chance to go live with. Some people forget or overlook my/our contribution to this current trend,” says Snipes. “The ‘Gaming’ community knows and the streets give us credits, but the movie world frequently plays us like the ‘ugly stepchild’ or the ‘kitchen help,’ especially when the conversation revolves around the ‘boys in tights’ or ‘the bat’.” Snipes continues, “Getting asked this question all the time, my response is: ‘Under the right circumstances, with the right team, yes, I’d do another one.’ But don’t get me wrong; I’m not waiting around for the opportunity. I’ve got plenty to do, plus an unraveled character in the works who I think will give ‘Blade’ a helluva run for his money.

The official website has now been launched for Filmax’s Sleep Tight, which opens in Spain on October 14. Directed by [REC]‘s Jaume Balagueró, the pic follows the residents of the building where Cesar works as a doorman are not aware of the overtime he has been putting in. Apparently, he is at their service both day and night.

The Playlist is reporting that director Justin Lin says that he’s met with both James Cameron(!) and Arnold Schwarzenegger to talk about Terminator 5. Lin will first direct the next Fast and the Furious sequel, while Arnie is commited to The Last Stand, but what comes after could be something of wonder. “Just even this week, I had a great meeting with Arnold and James Cameron, just sitting down unofficially. And James is so gracious because he’s not part of the project, he’s not going to be producing, but it was great of him just as a filmmaker to take time out to just talk.” Click the link for more.

Hitfix confirmed old news that both Steve Kloves and David Yates, who wrote/directed the last four Harry Potter films, will be teaming for Warner Bros. Pictures’ adaptation of Stephen King’s apocalyptic tale The Stand. The 1978 “The Stand” is a story of good vs. evil after a virus wipes out most of the American population. While it features dozens of characters (such as the Trashcan Man and Mother Abigail) and overlapping story lines running over many years, the struggle boils down to a group of survivors fighting the Antichrist-like Randall Flagg.

News Bites: Opening Credits of ‘Blade’ Anime, ‘Total Recall’ Set Pics & ‘Melancholia’ Art

This morning there’s a slew of interesting little nuggets of news worthy of a quick blurb. First, inside you’ll find the latest official poster for Magnolia’s Melancholia, directed by the controversial Lars Von Trier for release on November 4. In addition, we’ve updated our image gallery with a rash of new stills from the pic that follow Kristen Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg, two sisters whose lives are drifting apart as the universe spectacularly unravels in what Von Trier describes as a beautiful movie about the end of the world.

Also beyond the break is a link to behind-the-scenes photos from the set of the now-filming redo of Total Recall. The pics aren’t eventful but do give us a look at both Colin Farrell and Jessica Biel in costume. Len Wiseman directs for Columbia Pictures with an August 3, 2012 date set in stone. The movie is ditches the Martian storyline from the original pic and instead involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell), a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy — although he doesn’t know for which side.

About a month ago, a trailer for the Madhouse Animation Blade anime series hit the web, which is rumored to be premiering stateside later this year on G4TV. SDCC 2010: Marvel Announces ‘Blade’ Animated Series In Development

This weekend has been full of insanity, and if a pen fight over seating at the Resident Evil Afterlife panel isn’t evidence enough then I don’t know what else to tell you. (Sources say that the two parties still do not realize how stupid the cause of the argument was. More details at 10)For most, today is a bittersweet one, as it marks the official end of the comic book utopia, and now the fair residents of San Diego can finally begin to drop the 14 megatons of Febreeze on the city via helicopter that it will take to cleanse it of the cloud of body odor that has covered it for the past 4 days. However, that said there are still some big news bits making their way out of the building, and one of those happens to be the announcement of an all new animated series that is in development from Marvel Studios based on none other than “BLADE”. The series will air of G4 TV when it makes its debut next year, and presumably it will take place in Southeast Asia. Details were few and far between at the Marvel panel, but we will be sure to update you as news becomes available. For now the untitled “BLADE” animated series is slated for a 2011 air date.
