You can all rest easy. With the final issue of Clive Barker and Mark Miller’s Hellraiser coming to a close next week with issue #20 (preview here), the future of the franchise at Boom! Studios was uncertain until now. USA Today broke the news that “Witch Doctor” scribe and writer of “Hellraiser: The Road Below”, Brandon Seifert, will be collaborating with Clive Barker for a brand new ongoing “Hellraiser” series titled “The Dark Watch”. Tom Garcia will be taking on art duties for the series, and it is confirmed that it will pick up where the series leaves off.
Seifert assures that the series will also be easy for new readers to jump in, saying, it “picks up with familiar characters in unfamiliar roles, and I’m making a big effort to make it accessible for new readers.” Seifert was keen to note that the original story, “The Hellbound Heart” and the original films have always been a huge influence on him, and he plans to explore the world that Barker has created. “Hellraiser: The Dark Watch” kicks off in February 2013. Hellraiser: The Road Below #1 is highly recommended to readers, especially to fans of Clive Barker’s famous creation. With the spotlight on Kirsty Cotton as the new Pinhead, the series takes on an entirely new and different approach. Full of creative ideas, Brandon Seifert and Haemi Jang show readers that there is still life within the “Hellraiser” franchise without Elliot Spencer in the title role. Readers should expect plenty of scares and clever plot twists with this issue. READ MORE
Readers will be thoroughly entertained by the bloody images and well-developed characterizations in Spirit Of The Law #1. In this combination of noir and horror, the characters are interestingly well-written and the mystery slowly elaborates on the revenge aspect. As the story proceeds along at an intentionally steady pace, readers will find themselves drawn to an entertaining thriller. READ MORE
Brandon Seifert’s 4-issue Hellraiser miniseries, “The Road Below”, kicks off this October from BOOM! Studios. The miniseries falls directly inline with the events of Clive Barker’s current “Hellraiser” ongoing and it functions to offer insight into Kirsty’s psyche. The mini will explore Kirsty’s first days as Pinhead on her journey to New Orleans where she meets with a holder of the LeMarchand Device.

Brandon Seifert’s insane creation, Witch Doctor, is back for more paranormal emergencies this Fall. “Witch Doctor” was Seifert’s breakout comic under Robert Kirkman’s Skybound imprint of Image Comics, and the second chapter in Dr. Vincent Morrow’s crazy life is about to begin. In the second arc, “Mal Practice”, the doctor wakes up with severe memory loss, and in an attempt to recover lost pieces, he encounters something much more sinister. If you missed out on the first volume of this book, you missed out on one of the best horror comics of the year. READ MORE
I’m not even going to lie, I am a bit heartbroken to see Brandon Seifert’s “WITCH DOCTOR” go, even if it is only for a a little over a month. Fortunately for us though publisher Skybound Comics did pick the series up for further adventures, and if you make the jump you can check out the final preview for the monthlies’ first story arc. Back before Brandon Seifert and Lukas Ketner’s “WITCH DOCTOR” began we made the prediction that the series would quickly become a classic among genre fans, and if the sell-out numbers for the series’ first story-arc are any indication of just how much potential the series has, then we feel pretty damned secure in that assumption. So it comes as no surprise that Skybound has announced an all new one-shot featuring the “unique” cast and crew entitled, “RESUSCITATION”. Below you can get your first look at the cover art and all the details…
WRITTEN BY: Brandon Seifert
ILLUSTRATIONS BY: Lukas Ketner
“Offering a great jumping on point for new readers, Witch Doctor: The Resuscitation will ask important questions of its readers. For instance, if you wake up in a bathtub of ice with a surgical incision on your side, but the hospital says you’ve still got two kidneys, where do you go for a second opinion? To the expert, Dr. Vincent Morrow, Witch Doctor, of course!”

It seems that many major publishers are trying to dip their creative pens in the murky ink of horror comics. Competition is fierce, to say the least, and writers must constantly come up with new ideas to prove themselves within the tightly knit community. For some reason, Image has always stood out as one of the best horror comic publishers. They know what fans want, not just blood and guts but a brain and a heart too. Image’s Skybound imprint, founded by Robert Kirkman, (The Walking Dead), horror comic icon, brings us “Witch Doctor”, a mini-series showcasing a grotesque and disturbing world where diseases are synonymous with monsters. If you’ve missed the first two issues, have no fear; the mini-series is set in stand-alone episodes, meaning you can still pick up this creepy book (good thing for you since the first issue sold out!). Witch Doctor is an insane comics that would have devout Christians spewing up the Eucharist, and amen for that. Read on for the skinny…
EDIT: “Witch Doctor” issue #3 actually hits stores September 14th, but screw it, it’s still my pick of the week!
Did you buy the debut issue of Skybound’s “WITCH DOCTOR” on June 29th? What’s that? You “Forgot/Ran Out Of Money/WastedMyTimeOnUltimateSpiderman”? Wow…And here I thought we were all on the same page here? Oh, and here’s the bad news; the first ish was a runaway sellout for Brandon Seifert and Lukas Ketner. The good news for you? Inside you can get a special 7 page look at issue #2. Read on for the skinny…
It’s 6 AM and for all practical purposes I should be asleep. Instead, I have decided to throw you all a bone and give you my staff pick of the week. It’s Wednesday, and as usual I am excited about quite a few comics; including new issues of comics I have talked about in my older staff picks such as Joe Casey’s “BUTCHER BAKER, THE RIGHTEOUS MAKER” as well as Scott Snyder’s “AMERICAN VAMPIRE, SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST”. However, this week I have chosen Issue #1 of “WITCH DOCTOR” published by Image.
Quite easily the most exciting release in horror this month is the debut issue of scribe Brandon Seifert and artist Lukas Ketner’s “WITCH DOCTOR” from Robert Kirkman imprint, Skybound. The series is set to break records, and beyond the break you can feast your eyes upon a 9 page preview of the series’ first ish and get all the details. Read on for the skinny…
(UPDATED: Added a 5 page preview.) The past few months have been some of the most strenuous and terrifying times for the entire cast and crew of Image Comics and Skybound’s “THE WALKING DEAD”. With “NO WAY OUT”, the latest and most controversial story-arc in the series to date, has left a lot of questions unanswered, but most importantly it has created a ripple effect that will be felt for the foreseeable future. With several of The Survivors now dead (or dying), and an cloud of speculation thick above the heads of those left behind, series creator Robert Kirkman is set to release the latest installment of the series with issue #85. What does the future hold for Rick Grimes and the rest of the cast? Can they ever find peace or a semblance of salvation in the wake of the zombie apocalypse? Read on for the skinny…
This Summer might be one of the slowest in recent memory for the horror industry in film, and admittedly: that sucks. But luckily for horror aficionados, casual fans, and passers-by everywhere, the comic industry is still booming with new and interesting titles that are covered in the good ol’ blood n’ guts. However, out of all of the new upstarts that are hoping to find their footing this year, there are few that have even come close to being as unique and interesting as Brandon Seifert and Lukas Ketner’s upcoming “WITCH DOCTOR” from Robert Kirkman’s newly launched, Skybound Entertainment. The series which follows Doctor Vincent Morrow, Eric Gast, and Penny Dreadful is the first 100% original title to come from the new publisher, and with it it has brought along more buzz than a wicker mask over Nicolas Cage’s screaming head. Up until recently news on the title has been kept quiet, but now with just a few short weeks until the series debut the creative team behind then title took the time to sit down with me and discuss the book at length. Inside you can feast your eyes on the entire interview with Seifert and Ketner, where we cover everything from getting the series off the ground with Robert Kirkman (“THE WALKING DEAD”), the debut of issue #0 with “THE WALKING DEAD”, the series’ initial 4 issue run, and what lies ahead for Dr. Morrow and Co.
