It’s no secret that we’re huge fans of David Lapham’s refreshing take on werewolves in the Avatar Press series, Ferals. It’s a dark and twisted werewolf story that’s consistently one of the better horror books on shelves, month in and month out.

The story revolves around Officer Dale Chesnutt, a small town lawman stuck investigating the brutal slaughter of his best friend. During his investigation everyone around Chesnutt begins to turn up dead, including the woman he had a sweaty sexual encounter with the night before. Pulled in for questioning, Chesnutt is attacked in jail by a werewolf who proceeds to brutally slaughter the entire police force. Escaping by the skin of his teeth, Dale’s body begins a transformation after the attack as his hands begin to morph into werewolf claws. Now Chesnutt is on the run from police for murders he didn’t commit, and trying to track down the real killer, which happens to be a gigantic pack of hungry werewolves.

Lapham and and artist Gabriel Andrade (Lady Death, Die Hard: Year One) deserve a real standing ovation for taking a classic horror movie monster and making him scary once again. Check out a preview of issue #5 of this awesome series below. READ MORE

It’s that time of week again, so get out your bibs and baby chairs and prepare for Comics to Feast On. The amount of killer titles set for release this week is out of control! This is one of the best we’ve seen in a long time, so you may have to spend some extra dough on your trip to the shop. This week, Jeff Lemire starts a new arc on ANIMAL MAN, the 68 trade is finally out, and Willingham launches his new Vertigo book, FAIREST.

This brand spankin’ new ongoing series is helmed by David Lapham, who broke into the scene with his hit STRAY BULLETS, and since then he’s lent his pen to many horror comics. Now Lapham takes us on another terrifying ride into a small town where a string of gruesome murders suddenly brings the town into a much, much darker world.
