The Melvins Are After A Guinness World Record

The Melvins were never ones to do things that were easy. And so it is that they decided that they were gonna try to tackle a Guinness World Record attempt by doing the fastest tour of the US (plus D.C.) with a 51-date fall tour. The band will be hitting every state and will take no days off in their attempt.

Guitarist/vocalist Buzz Osborne stated, “We figured it was time for us to do something REALLY crazy. 51 shows in 50 states plus 1 on D.C. and all in 51 days? Jeez! I wonder if we can do it?”

The tour will feature the Melvins Lite line-up of Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover (drums), and Trevor Dunn (bass). The trio just released Freak Puke (review). All tour dates are below. READ MORE

With a history as long and influential as The Melvins, it’s worth paying attention when a new album comes out. Now, under the moniker Melvins Lite (which features Buzz Osborne on guitars/vocals, Dale Crover on drums, and Mr. Bungle/Fantômas bassist Trevor Dunn), the group is releasing Freak Puke, the first album since 2004’s Pigs of the Roman Empire to feature a different line-up than the current four-piece (Osborne, Crover, Jared Warren (bass), Coady Willis (drums)). The Melvins Announce New Album Freak Puke
The Melvins are back with a new incarnation: Melvins Lite. Buzz Osbourn and Dale Crover are teaming up with bassist Trevor Dunn, who has been a part of Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, and Tomahawk. The three have joined to record Freak Puke, a ten-track album that is due for release on June 5th.
Osbourn states, “The Melvins have a long history of mixing up our line-ups and I think that’s what has kept us relevant for so long. Consider the Freak Puke record the fifth side of the four-sided Melvins’ triangle.”
