[Random Cool] Can You Guess All The Guitarists?

Artist Maxim Dalton painted a poster of 35 of the greatest guitar players ever. While it doesn’t include some famous axe wielders (I don’t see Dimebag Darrell on there), it is a pretty comprehensive painting of guitarists who have shaped and influenced their genres. The painting was released as a limited edition poster but sold out long ago.

But what I want to know is can you identify them all! So head on below to test yourself on your guitar player knowledge! READ MORE

R.I.P Ravi Shankar Passes Away At Age 92

The Beatles member George Harrison once called Ravi Shankar the “Godfather of world music”. With great sadness, we must report that Ravi Shankar has passed away at age 92. He was in his San Diego home with his wife and daughter upon his passing.

While I cannot offer a great history of his life and his many, many accomplishments (I suggest you turn to this article on Yahoo for more information), I can say that I myself have experienced a Ravi Shankar live performance first hand and it was a truly mesmerizing experience. What made me enjoy the concert so much was his appreciation of each performer on stage, giving them each a chance to showcase not only their skills and talents, but also their joy and passion. Truly, this was a man that appreciated showing the world what each of us were, and are, capable of. I am deeply saddened and I offer my deepest condolences to his family, to his friends, and to the many, many students of his, be they immediate disciples or simply listeners who took his music to heart.

R.I.P. Ravi Shankar. I thank you for all the music you have brought to this world. Sleep well. READ MORE

[Random Cool] Mars Curiosity Rover Gets A Nice Dose Of Anthrax

On every Mars morning, the folks at NASA wake up the Mars Curiosity Rover with some good ole’ fashioned music. There were people wondering what that music might be, so in a recent Reddit Q&A session, the crew put out the playlist. Included were songs from Beatles, Wagner, Anthrax, 30 Seconds To Mars, and more. I think this is a really cool idea. Instead of just hitting an ‘On’ button, they ‘wake up’ the rover with good ole’ fashioned music. I just wish that there were a place where people could make their own submissions and NASA would follow through. How cool would it be to have your name and song picked for the Curiosity wake up call?
